well i got the aem and it was very complete and the instructions are cake to follow, plus they have dyno charts on the website that shows power gains on a 240, they claimed like 10 hp or ft lbs or something like that

in therory they do, but as far as what aem claims is that they test tube diameter and length to make the most power, plus with a name brand you know what your buying, ebay is great and all but you might not have all the vacuum hose fittings on there, if you wanted to do cheap just drop in a k&n panel filter and than hack a few holes in the air box (on the side that is before the filter) i know on some cars doing this gets you just as much power as buying an intake ( like on the maximas and dsm cars ) but i just dropped the change for something i knew would work

I just instaled the injen intake on my car last week and it went on pretty easy exept one hose i had to cut like an inch off because it was bending to much and touching my radiator fan. I dont think that theres going to be that big of a power difference though between the injen and AEM

I have an AEM intake for my '98..I must admit however that both AEM and Injen are wildly overpriced. Like most others have said you should purchase a generic no-name intake and fit it with a decent K&N filter.

A note regarding the differeneces between AEM and Injen, which are essentially the same, Injen offers specific models for both zenki and kouki, while AEM uses the same intake and pairs it with an adaptor to fit the different IAT sensor mounts between model years.

yeah thats a really important note, because the shop i bought my aem from didnt read the damn catalog right and i got stuck waiting for like another 2 weeks for it too come in... owned by dumb asses at a shop called "regulate" lol..

just get an ebay intake, generally, a "crappy" intake will give u more hp by letting slightly more air, and a "good" one that doesnt flow as well will probably trap more dust and crap. so basically, an intake is an intake, and one that makes more hp might not be better for ur engine, but the difference is so minimal and negligible, just get something cheap.

i keep seeing the same argument over and over (just get a regular ebay intake, k&n drop in, aem/injen too expensive etc etc), but can anyone answer the real question of which intake (aem and injen) has better performance, cleaning ability, sound etc, based off of real world experience?

Power wise, they will perform almost identically. You will not notice any difference. The injen one actually has a filter that is made by k&n. They are very easy to clean and will last a long time. They are both identical to instal. Deciding between the two can only be done based on looks and price. Performance is the same. Oh, they all use 3 inch mandrel bent tubing so even cheap ebay ones will perform the same.

just get a k&n drop filter, you won't notice the difference and it's $160 cheaper. Use that $160 to get something else which WILL make your car more noticable in speed. What I did with $200 for my first perforamance mods - k&n intake, NGK laser R double platinum spark plugs, accell 8 mm spark plug wires, and advanced my ignition timing. With those, you'll feel a difference over just an injen or AEM intake
