Hi guys i'm pretty new to the forum but i bought a 1990 240sx coupe SE on August 20th and have been gutting it and started a project. I've been wanting to do this for a while but finally found a decent one in my area. 700 dollars for it with a pretty bad motor. Blown HG and no muffler. Tons of parts not connected no PS. The guy before me swapped in a DOHC but didn't hook all the parts up. This is fine because i'm planning on swapping in an RB25DET once i get the funds. I started with body work now and i'm started to fix the dents and everything and get my silvia conversion and body kit. I went with the origin stylish body kit and origin cf hood. I didn't plan on that hood but thats how it happened since they were out of oem cf hoods. I will post pics as soon as i get a site to host them at. I'm a n00b when it comes with cars so any advice would be appreciated.

Started working

Then i just started stripping everything down that i wasn't going to use or needed cleaning. We took off the fenders, bumpers, tail lights, and all the interior except the dash. Started grinding and bondoing where it was needed and filled the spoiler holes as i am going spoilerless.

New Parts

A couple days ago i got in my Origin Stylish body kit and wide fenders...still waiting on the hood..i dont really have the money for the headlights yet so those will have to wait a little bit. I wanted to get the body parts so i could start sanding and primering and getting ready for paint.

We also sprayed the first coat of primer on the trunk lid to get used to the spray gun. We sprayed it on too thin though so we need to get back over it a couple times maybe.

Body line

Yea i decided to fill it in...one i think it'll look better and two it was easier than working around it lol. do you think it'd look weird if the line was still in the front fenders? i kinda would just like to not mess with them since they're not dented or anything

Body kit

When i was lining up the body kit i came across a few questions. Do i need to cut the front bumper support? if so what would be best to cut that with? One other thing where the bumpers go over the fenders what is the best thing to do with that? SHould i try to fiberglass it to make it one piece? Thanks in advance. I've tried searching a bit but dont really know what to search for on here so don't flame me for asking.

Good luck with your project it looks like its comming along very well! Your already like 30 steps ahead of me! I still dont have a 240 yet! But good luck with it! :)

DON'T glass the fenders and front bumper together. It's a major pain in the ass if you ever have to do anything in the front end, such as installing a FMIC. Plus the first time you hit something with the front end you can basically count on cracks where you glassed the bumper and the fender together. And definately get rid of the top body line in the fenders. I had my fenders sitting on my car with the body line still there and it just looked so weird. You appear to have a handle on the body work though so good luck and if you need any answers just let us know.

Welcome to the family!

thanks

Thank you for your advice and the only thing about not glassing the fenders and bumper together it seems like if i dont it'll look odd...there will be a little gap in between the fender and bumper you know?

Well i've got a bit further now we've got most of the stuff to fit but theres still the gap between where the bumper overlaps the fender i'm not sure what to do there?

would double sided tape hold it together very well?
