More Socal Shops!

Have any of you guys dealt with the following shops in getting a SR20DET swapped into your 240sx?

*LS Automotive (Baldwin Park)

*Milano Auto Dismantling (Duarte)

*Motorex (Gardena)

*Autolink (El Monte) (Yes, Hondas. Talked to one guy who actually got his SR20det job done there. Need more input.)

If so, did they handle business professionally? Were the mechanics knowledgeable? How was the quality of their work? Did you get what you payed for?

Feedback please! Thanks!

dood, cartune sucks now since they got new ownership... a lot of the nice people left. My friend recently got a swap there and they "lost" his KA engine and transmission when he went there to pick it up.

I know signal auto in torrance will do the job right. hefty price, but they're smart, so is GT-Pro in City of Industry.

cartune sucks now?...doesnt sam work there or did work there?....i drove all the way up to visit cartune to get a s13 digital climate control for my car...but i was kinda sketchy of the wiring?.. he said i might have problems with it..atleast he told me upfront rather then selling it to me and not say a word...it woulda been nice if he told me this on an email rather then me driving 2 1/2 hours to find out..but all in all he was a nice/trustful guy

dude, there are TONS of shops in SD and LA that can do it for you. McKinney, Phase2, Jim Wolf, and most speed shops.

Heck, I'll help you with your swap if you wanna do it yourself and save some money, I'll be at UCSD from January through June with my car (hopefully). THe best thing to do is get someone who has done the swap or knows about the SR front clips and what they need to check out what you're gonne buy first.

Motorex is waaaayy over priced...
That's funny, they charge in the same ballpark that Signal does (perhaps a bit less) $4,700 for an s14 clip and labor is pretty standard. And you DO get what you pay for there. I have neither the time nor money to be cheap about something like my swap.

I mean, if you needed heart surgery would you go to a discount heart surgeon? If you were to go sky diving would you buy your parachute at wal-mart?

Check it out Aerodyne in Graden Grove does th eswap for an alright price but if you want true professional quality go with MotoRex. I bought a tranny from them this past weekend and they knew exactly what the hell I was talking about and needed to do certain Conversions like an RB26DETT, or an RB25DET and so on b/c I asked. Besides they have a striaght Nissan only shop and so thats all they work on!

First of all, Wal-mart doesnt sell parachutes. Second, when you bought your front clip did they perform a compression and leak down test to assure you its a good engine? I agree ''you get what you pay for'' but you dont necessarily need to pay an 'xxxx' amount so that you feel comfortable with the product. I guess im one of the very few who has heard of a 'good deal'. :supercool

I know the guys at Motorex and I've been there many times discussing cars and skylines. I know they do good work and i have purchased some items from them too. However, i will only let them install something if i agree with the labor.

mckinney in santee, near san diego. that place specializes in RB swaps, the owner had his 240 in super street, i think it was.

anyways, does that shop have a website? i was gonna drive all the way up to LS auto to get my SR swap, but i just realized i can go to mckinney. but i'd like to check out pricing first...so if they have a website, let me know!
