hey guys I just recently Purchased a 240sx
its a 95, with a SR20DETT Swap. the car is in pretty good condition but has two minor flaw's one thing the previous owner told me is that the speedometer stopped working after the swap and the second issue is that the Fuel Level Gauge on the dash does not work even if the gas tank is full of gas. How much should I be expecting to get these two issues fixed for?
Please help a Noob out.

You have a SR20DET. The T stands for Turbo so "TT" would stand for a motor with two turbos!

the speedometer stopped working after the swap
well it could be the speed sensor in the tranny, the wiring from the speed sensor to speedometer or a bad speedometer.

What exactly does the speedometer do?, does it just not move?

the second issue is that the Fuel Level Gauge on the dash does not work even if the gas tank is full of gas.
Again this could be the sending unit in the tank, the wiring to the gas gauge or the actual gauge itself.

im going to guess both of your issues are a wiring problem. Im going to assume that you need to take your car somewhere to have these issues resolved. Your best bet is going to be finding a shop that deals with nissans specifically the 240sx.

thats what I was thinking, sorry about the extra T at the end of sr20dett, its a bad habit of mine ;-) Im new to this forum too, are their regional forums? Im based in atlanta. are these common problems man? I hope its not expensive I just paid 14K for this car too. Thanks for your help, I will have to do some research because I dont think I can live without the speed & gas gauge working.

Its cool!

There are regional forums once you get out of the beginner section. Being that your in Atlanta you should have numerous 240sx specialty shops in your area. I would not say they are common problesm but that are not going to be a hard fix. It should not cost you very much.

14k for a swapped 95? Im hoping the car had some nice extras or something. if not, you def. got bent over. :eek4:

I think 14k was in the ballpark of what the car was worth.

BUT you need to hit up "S15Driftking" and spend about 2.5k on some baller wheels then you will have yourself a nice ride. Those wheels kill the look of that car! Some wide, super dished wheels would be the hottness!!

hehe that was the first thing i was thinking about was deep dish wheels, i really despise the ones that are on it now, it kinda of appears that he spent all the money on other aspects of the cars and the wheels were done last lol I will do that as soon as i have the speedo and gas fixed. so 14 was alright? i was trying to get him to 10K but he showed me all the reciepts and stuff.

your gonna have to consult with the other ATL owners because I live in PA. Emissions is not much of a problem here if your still OBD1 plus Im always emmision exempt on account of my dad's buddy running an inspection station.

Some 95s are still OBD1 so you might get lucky and only have to pass a visual and a sniffer. If your OBD2 then your going to be in some trouble.

yikes! thanks again for helping me dude, im gonna do some more research I guess i just came down with buyers remorse. lol after everything thats happened to me since last June it's been like a restart mode for me. dont mean to rant but corruption of dealers & individuals have gone through the roof lately.
