SR20 swap, clutch issue

Hey guys I have a bit of an issue here...

Ive been finishing up my drift build lately while its on jackstands and decided to try to shift into gear. Its an S13 SR20DET full swap into a S14, engine runs great but the clutch will not disengage to let me shift. When the cars off it will shift fine. This includes ALL gears.

So i looked at all the typical things: leaks, clutch adjustment, slave and have ruled all of those out. But the one thing that caught my attention was that the clutch fork, when the slave is out, is very far forward. It is EXTREMELY difficult to install the slave cylinder into this trans. I need to fight the clutch fork in order to get the slave bolt holes to line up.

Started it in first gear and everything worked (on jackstands). Thats as far as ive gotten today. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with something like this before.

The only thing that I could think of is that the clutch fork is not completely on the pivot stud. When I had to swap slave cylinders, the fork jumped out of the pivot stud, and made it hard for me to place the new slave cylinder back on. I just played around with the fork until it kinda popped into place. After that, the slave cylinder aligned up like no problem.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like you may have installed the clutch backwards. I have heard this beeing done before. Granted that was on a miata, but same none the loess.

Hope I am wrong, but if every thing looks correct you may want to pull tue trans and check it. I know its a pita, but what other options do you have right now.

Have a heat day,
Jared

I assume you bled the slave as well? Does the fork move fore & aft when the pedal is actuated? If so, it sounds like a tranny & clutch removal/inspection is in the near future. Hopefully something simple, tho no less pure suckage. What kind of clutch is it? Sometimes they call for different length sleeves/TOB's.

Good luck!

Never took the trans off. Doubt the clutch is in backwards because this is how it came. I think the clutch might be frozen so im gonna start it in gear and get on the e brake while its on stands. maybe it will fix it, if not I guess it needs to come off. Yea everything outside the trans is functioning as it should.

Just gonna throw this out.

Where the slave cylinder attatches to the bell housing, is the holes stripped? I say that becuase my last transmission's bell housing holes (where the bolts fo the slave cylinder bolt in) where stripped and would allow the slave cylinder to have movement, causing less range in motion for the lever arm, and keeping the clutch engaged.

Interesting, they are not though. So today I started it on jack stand in gear and ripped the e brake, hoping that the flywheel and clutch are frozen. Nothing. Gonna wait till its back on the ground and try a few more things to prove its not just a frozen clutch. After that I guess it needs to come out.
