Starter or ignition???

I have a 1989 Chuki model, with a swapped DOHC in it. and for some reason i turn the ignition and no start. no click. no nothing. Im not positive but im sure that this is a starter problem, but i also heard that it could be my igniton switch and that it might be partially broken... currently i have to push start my car to get it going. soo this kinda makes me more onto the side that the starter is the problem and not the ignition. does neone have any help for me? and how do i check if its the igniton. (btw i still havent used a voltmeter to check my starter yet but i was planning on doing it this weekend) NE IDEAS???
