STILL can't get the dash lights to work

Man I am seriously pissed off at this. I can't get this thing to work for the life of me. If it's the headlight timer module or what, I have no idea. ALL My fuses are good, checked power everywhere. I've got no dash or climate control backlights. Everything in the interior works though. Just no backlights!

My tail lights work, I messed with the fuse and they started working. But everything I try, even a spare dimmer switch I had, wouldn't get the dash lights to light up.

i'm going crazy. someone help me please.

thanks!

Well I checked my TCU, the white box on the drivers side kick panel. Opened it up, the traces are fine, no resistors or caps blown, no burn marks at all. If anyone knows a pin point test or how to test this thing, it would be of great help.

Also, I've read that it could be a problem with an aftermarket stereo. The stereo that was in the car has been removed, and the wires are just hanging there. None are touching, but could this be a problem as well?

thanks guys.

I checked one more thing. The Red/blue wire for the stereo, the illumination wire. I have 12v there with the running lights on. I assume this means means that i've got a bad ground somewhere on my dash lights.

I've always heard the TCU was the problem, but the hatch I'm trying to sell has the same problem. One of these days I'll fix it.

I work at a dealership. I know how the rape works from the inside. Once I get some rims for this thing i'll drive it to work and tear it apart. I'm not a seasoned electronics man yet, but i've got a few buds that are.

Just our of curiosity, how much did they charge?

sorry to revive teh dead topic

OK... dead topic or not, I need to get this problem fixed, and i don't wanna go a "bend over" dealership... same problem

No dashlights or climate control backlights
Stock radio/tape player gone
Checked all fuses
TCU shows no burns on it and even replaced it w/ another, nothing...

Please, please help me, i drive to work at 4am, and i'd really like to have my dashlights

Thanks,

Jay

where exactly is this wire, obviously I am having the same problem. I actually got my HUD to work, but just for a little while like it was a wire moving. Just don't know where. Now my HUD and Dash lights don't work again.

for the guys with HUD. Check the red wire coming off the back of the speedo, going to a power on the back of the gauge cluster. Make sure it is tight, mine was just a little lose after I replaced the cap in the speedo. It has to be snug, but not muscleman tight. The cap on the speedo can knock out dash lights too. I can't remember the post on here, but there is a post that talks about digital speedo's not working and how to fix it.
As far as everyone with analog clusters, I am not sure what to tell you. Make sure the timer control module is good, the FSM has troubleshooting steps for it. besides that make sure the illumination wire on the radio is not grounding out to anything. Check all grounds near the dash and by your external running lights. That is all I can offer right now. I am wanting to re-wire the car in a manner of speaking. I plan on redoing some of the wiring to get rid of the timer control module completly. I am tired of the crapping ass electronics they put in these 240's. I'll let everyone know what I come up with.

I am having trouble with the dash lights (hazard, cluster, defog, ect)

EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS (HUD, A/C, all other interior lights)
My dimmmer works on the HUD but not the illumination lights in the cluster.

I checked all fuses, changed the TCU three times and the dimmer switch.
I might have to go to the dealer
