if you have a stock 240 thats been a pretty well maintained driver its whole life and it were to live out the rest of its days as a well maintained daily driver what would be a fair mileage expectancy before it dies?

are these 300k motors or am i pushing my luck after 150?

thanks

There is no certain time or millage an engine will last. Just because one brand or type of engine has gone 300k doesn't mean that every engine of that type/brand will do the same.
It really comes down to how its driven, and maintained. Some KA's have probably ran over 300k and I'm sure many have only seen 100k or less because of abuse or neglect.

well actually i dont even own a 240, im kind of in the market. aside from all the usuall tell tail signs of abuse and neglect im just wondering how much the digets on the odometer will play in how much longer the car would potentially last me

the one om looking at on the top of my list is a well maintained driver with just over 140k

I think you need to be more worried about rust... You don't want to buy one with the frame rusted through, although that's something you'll need to worry about with a lot of cars in the 80's-early 90's.

If you bust an engine there are plenty around and plenty of rebuild kits... Find a friend who knows how to fix cars... Get a part time job at a car parts place, learn all you can, etc...

Oh yeah, and lots of 240's odometers break... My 240 shows that I have 56k miles... The odometer turns a little bit when I'm on the back roads... Anything over 35mph and it doesn't move...
