Hey, everyone, Is the SR20 and the KA the same? The produce the same HP don't they? I mean I know the DET is turbo charged, but what really is the difference on the SR and KA? Also what is the average life on a SR20DET motor? Anyone know?

the ka is an engine and the sr is an engine. I see no difference. Now buy my ka24 for a cheap price of $2000, thats way better than a front clip from a silvia/180sx.

young and curious huh?
the sr20det is a jdm engine meaning Japanese domestic market. the engine produces 205 turbocharged horses and is very strongly built. the ka is a well built torquey truck engine produced in the usdm model 240sx. the ka's have 140 and 155hp.

damn you guys are retarded! he was talking about the sr20DE...not the turbo model. so that narrows it down to either the 200sx, sentra and other US cars (which were fwd) or some cars in japan and europe. but to answer your questoin the ka has more torque but the sr should have a higher redline. and do a google search and check out other sr dedicated forums. and remember to SEARCH there too...

Since when is since spelled sEnce or liter spelled lEAter....it was a joke

Basic diff,
ka= iron block, truck motor, 2.4l, distributor, non turbo
sr=aluminum block, turbo, coil packs, awsome

Two totally different motors. Sr is better in every way haha (Skrew off KA-T guys haha j/k). I like the thought of a light weight, high revving motor more than a torque'y "half a V8" motor.

buy an CA18 and save the SRs for the rest of us.

Seriously though, you gotta understand that the difference between every engine is just a matter of preference, in the end you can put the down the same numbers with both KA/SR. Its all just the path you take.

i read it...he knows that the sr comes in deT. maybe he wasnt clear in which case maybe he would be retarded becasue then the sr and ka dont have the same hp. the only way that he would make that assumption is if he was referring to the non-turbo SR. man this thread has been a waste of my time:crazyrant ...soryy everyone. oh and bareM, if you were referring to the sr20deT as having the same hp as the stock ka then you dont deserve to know the life of the engine.
