Throwout Bearing Question

Hey guys...have a question. I just upgraded to a stage 2 clutch. The kit came with a larger throw out bearing. I've heard a few people complain about these aftermarket bearings lifespan.

Can I use an OEM bearing with the kit? It's a little smaller than the aftermarket one so I'm not sure if that will make much of a difference. Any input / advice will be much appreciated!

Shouldn't be an issue. A slightly smaller TOB isn't necessarily a bad thing... The recommended one for my OS Giken twin plate is smaller than the OEM one IIRC.

Chances are, if properly fitted/installed, it will last the life of your clutch.

Correct- But it is also smaller in diameter... Almost positive of it... The clutch sleeve is shorter too to foster solid engage/disengage. I was hoping you would chime in on this one... You are kind of like a walking FSM ;)

Personally, I would use the TO that came with the kit. It's designed to allow correct pedal engagement for the designated clutch.

On the OS Giken, or any twin/triple plate clutch used on a Nissan, it's better to go with the thinner bearing because it keeps the clutch pedal feeling near stock. If you use the thicker bearing on the multi-plates, it will make the pedal pretty stiff.
