So I did some searching and I read that the SOHC came with to different type distributor caps. What happens if the wrong one is put on, would the car run weird, like hard starting and light idle fluctuation? On my old motor I had the bigger rotor and cap. On the new one, theres the smaller rotor and I put on the big cap.

Another prob Im having, is I cant advance timing any higher than 13 when Im just trying to get it to 15. I run out of room in the bolt slots. Could this mean I jumped a tooth?

When I look at the rotor, it sits at about 4 o'clock, but when I lay the cap on and mark where the number 1 wire is, its at 5 o'clock. I tried to pull the distributor to see if I could just jump a tooth on that and thats when I realized, you cant do that, lol.

So is my prob either

A. I have the wrong cap on? (cuz I have both)

B. I jumped a tooth on the timing chain.

C. Both

Thanx guys

You will need the correct cap/rotor. If you have the wrong cap it simply just wont fit, but with the wrong rotor I dunno, I'd assume you'd have issues with spark.
