to stroke or not to stroke

SO I been doing some thinking and im not sure which way I want to go here. I was looking at a stroker kit for the SR. After talking to a friend and doing some looking around I found a stroker kit for about 2,600 then I would have to have the block machined....Also after looking around and adding a few things up I could pretty much rebuild the whole motor with forged bottom end withs a bigger bore (non-stroker) and build the head for about the same cost of just the stroker kit. Not really sure which way to go.

I would like to see about 550hp

Heres my questions....

What is the main difference between a stroker kit and just a forged bottom end?

Can you make the same amount of power with out doing the stroker kit?

Whats the pros and cons of doing the stroker over a reg. forged bottom end?

1. A stroker kit increases the stroke - therefore the effective displacement

2. With an SR - id say so up to a point. The reverse argument says the stroker kit can weaken the engine - makes it (more) unsquare.

3. Just doing forged components will save money compared to a stroker kit and allow you to increase the boost to levels not normally possible with cast components. Spend the money you save on the stroker kit on a better turbo and tuning.
^Save your money and just build the whole engine together. It will like it alot more if you did it that way also.
I think there are alot better ways to spend the money then on a stroker kit
Yeah, +1 for not getting enough bang for the buck out of investing in a stroker kit.

I have a Peak Boost set up to o on the car with a GT3076R and a AEM stand alone
If I go with just forging the bottom end should I stay with the standard bore size or go over with the bore?
