This may be a dumb question but do the s14 240sx have a speed limiter? if so what is it set at? and if not whats the top speed ?

the speed limiter kicks in at around 118mph. then it just cuts fuel off. you have no clue on how many races that stupid limiter has costed me. i was still acelerating strong then next thing i know it, it feels like i've hit the rev limiter hard. but ti won't rev back up for atleast a half a second.

yes hondas are slow.. and so was that 2002 1.8T jetta with an intake that always found its way to my rearview at the track..
and i did get to ~ 240 km/h in my car.. im not sure if the conversion to mph was wrong or right.

free speed limiter defencer

i remember finding a post about gettin rid of the speed limiter by just by cutting a certain wire. im not sure if it works or not, but i saved it on my computer and here it is:

I read someone's post about removing the speed cut on an S14 a couple days ago and thought I would try it on my S13. It involved disconnecting the 5th gear sensor on the trans and cutting a yellow ECU wire with a green stripe and two silver dots every inch or so. On the S13 (at least mine) there is no such wire, but a yellow wire with a green stripe and a single silver band about every inch. There's actually two such wires, but only one goes into the ECU while the other bypasses it. I checked my Chilton's schematic and confirmed that this is still the speedo wire. I figured theres enough slack to splice it back together if it didn't work, so I went ahead and cut the one going into the ECU. Whoo-hoo, I took it out in the country and managed to wrap the speedo needle to the first odometer number! Although this proceedure is supposed to turn on the check engine light on the S14, mine has not come on. It flashes on startup, so I'm sure it works. I might put a switch in the kickpanel so I can turn it on or off if the light ever goes on. The 5th gear sensor is the same as the S14, its the rearmost one in the cluster of three small sensors on the right side of the tranny. Hope this helps somebody out there. BTW, my S13 is a '91 with the stock KA24DE and ECU. And of course, I'm not responsible if you screw up, get a ticket, blah blah blah, etc.

if anyone here tries it, could you tell me if it works or not? i would try it, but i dont have a 240sx yet, and if I did, i wouldnt have enough balls to try it since i wouldnt wanna mess anything up.

i read that as well, but the problem is that if you do that doesnt your speedometer and tach die? needles go to 0 and u have to use something like the apexi speed/rev limiter thing to see what speed your actually going

yep bout 118 or 19 .. u stop going before 120 .. i have lost a few that way to. people honda racing me .. i win then they come from 15 carlinks back and go by and say they won..

Speed Kills .. live forever .. drive a honda
driving a honda automatically makes you a ricer i suppose.. even though ive done a flyby or ricer crap.. ive yet to see a stock 240 hit 15.4 stock or better so dont start saying shit like hondas are slow cause mine stock was pretty damn fast (well for a 17 years olds first car it was pretty fast - im now 18..and no longer have the car due to hitting black ice)

i dunno wut would happen, since i never tried it, but from what the guy said it sounds like the speedo and tach still work cuz he said that he wrapped the needle all the way around.

if any1 here wants to try it (on a s13 or s14) and report back...

Wow, such bias against hondas. I'm actually lookin for a 240, and yes...118 speed limiter :( hehe. I hit 140+ not too tuff untuned at 6.5 psi in my turbocharged gsr(before it was stolen) gsrs are gear limited to i think it's 157. also, how can else can u tell ur speed after u hit the 120 on a 240...does the revspeed meter tell u? or do u need like aftermarket speedo? anything small so u can tell? thx also, haltech e6k removes the limiter right since it's standalone.

haha must of been the DRIVER. go test out a 1.8t you'll see the difference between a 1.8t and your GSR.

i was doin the math and your stock gs-r hit 150mph. thats what the coversion was from km to mph. that is far faster then any car i've seen in that class stock. you must've bought the car after the guy had it port and polished then had his compression raised to hell, and also probraby changing the v-tec cams to a hotter cam. thats why it the engine look stock on the outside but inside its really a sleeper. there is now any front wheel drive honda can hit 150 stock. maybe the S2000 might beable to hit it but i doubt it.

that is true i have a freind w/ one w/ work done on it exhaust , intake, and a couple other things and he cant hit 150 .. if u dont wanna hear me talk bout hondas ,dont come in a sr20det forum .. cause i hope u dont want one in ur honda ..well i was thinkin bout doing a b16a in my 240.. hahahaha lol hahaha .or not ... hahhahahahah ... i do have a few hondas i like but the list is short.. my buddy has a turbo h22 thats pretty nice .. the s2000s r nice and the some of the gsrs r nice if built ......
