V-mount? :)

I have decided to go v-mount fo rmy road-racing ventures with the track car.

Using my old Greddy RSPL IC (kinda crazy but it worked out), tried using my old Koyo, but its just too wide to be able to mount well without cutting anything, and i dont want to cut anything to keep tructural integrity up front.

My greddy piping will all have to be modified to get this to work, and a custom radaitor orderd once I sell my Koyo, or find a good enough deal on one with dimensions close enough to what i need.

So far all i have is the IC mounted up, pretty solid, but i knwo the IC piping and ducting will stiffen it all up even more, so thats not an issue.

your intercooler is asking for a hood scoop

please read over the other pages, the whole setup has been walked through, and no "hood scoop" will be used, just good ducting and venting.

cuz it sounds better and you dont lose as much boost during shifts, but at the expense of your turbo. i'm sure a measely turbo is nothing to a big company like signal...

Good call on that, being that that car is stricly a show car for promotion reasons i can see why it was dont like that, plus with the high end comapny "spare no expenses" policy they use, money is no issue.

Actually that car is not a show car andl it is not a G35. It is a RHD JDM Skyline 350 GT. They did a drift exhibition with it and their notorious R34 GT-R at Nopi Nationals this year and they were NOT easy on the car.

I can post some videos of the drift exhibition if someone could tell me who can host video.

After the exhibition the Signal Auto crew took questions from the crowd and the BOV was brought up. The reasoning behind it according to the Signal boys was that the motors were built to withstand all the boost that the turbo could throw at the motor so there was no need for one.

no worries about posting a video, not very interested in a drift video (not trying to be a d*ck or anything). I like the setup on that car with the v-mount and all, just not the way i would go about it competely.

I got my new radaitor today and i will be mocking up the mounting over the next few days after i repaint my engine-bay, should be good to go once i get all teh brackets welded up and ducting finished, itll deff be hotness and fully functional.

Radiator, IC and coolant tank are all mounted now, but mild readjusting is needed for IC and rad clearences. looks soo hot and i will be cutting the front bumper a lil more for good airflow but still have the steel bumper mostly there for protection. Pics ill be up as soon as i have access to better internet, im on dial-up so its slow as ball$.

Im planning on doing the same for my next intercooler setup.

I was plagued by overheating issues last summer and im lead to wonder if the 4" thick intercooler i used to use could have contributed to suffocating my koyo.

I was goin to find an intercooler with sheetmetal endtanks so i could just weld some alum. 90's on and weld the horizontal ports shut, but i ended up finding something even better.

Ill likely weld the filler neck on my koyo shut with a piece of plate or whatever and get a universal filler neck put on my intake manifold coolant inlet. Should work out nice, for air coming out of the hood, ill just get a VIS racing reverse induction hood. Should work out nicely.

Weight saved from shorter piping and response gained should be nice, im still slightly worried about the radiator acting as a dirt catcher.

I probably WILL cut out my rad support, the upper rad support has almost no structural integrity to it and i will be welding brackets to the intercooler to tie it back together either way.

na i need it there for mounting the bumper, and its just extra workfor not much of a gain. I will be doing ducting in about 2 weeks, but i ran teh car tonight with teh rebuilt motor and teh v-mount and everything worked out great. Ran first try, had to fill teh engien with coolant through the heater hoses to get it all flowing and heating up, but pics of the whole setup will be up VERY soon.

Yeah, shoulda known because the brake and clutch MC are on the right side.
Sorry for the jack...

thread ws not jackled, kind funny how easily kids get off topic on here tho, these forums in general.

Car is up and running and moving :). V-mount looks hot, ducting and bumper trim will make the car even hotter, new engine runs smooth once it warm.

PICS SOON!!

The car is running hot? Ducting will make it run hotter? Why did you do it then...?

I keep pikcing on Casey to post pictures, but he hasn't for the following reasons:
1) He's very busy with either school or working on the car. :thumbsup
2) His parents' house is only equipped with a telegraph machine, making picture-posting difficult. :D
3) Casey is too cheap to buy a camera, despite having dropped thousands upon thousands upon thousands of dollars on his car. :rotflmao
