if i was caught drifting in a parking lot how much would be the ticket and will they arrest you if they keep finding you in different parking lots? will they give you a point on the DMV records? what if your under 18, are they going to call home or something? thanks

Yeah same here i need some info on that. I dont really think it matters where you live unless you live in a very popular drifting area. Otherwise if you are stuck in the midwest what kinda of ticket do you get?

it all depends on how strict the popo's are in your area here in charlotte nc on the side of town i live in i know most of the cops and im always kind and polite to them and they know i drift and where i do it but because im by myself or with some of my club members and not many people are out there they dont bother me sometimes when passing by they will stop and watch me for alittlebit then go on there way like i said it all depends

Dont get cought drifting. Have someone with a 2 way radio in range keeping a lookout, if the police show up and you are just hanging out in the lot, all they can do is ask you to leave because its private property. I'm not sure how a cop would react to seeing someone slide around a parking lot. They will either be really confused, or really upset. Either way, be safe about it and do your best not to get busted.

if its just the security of the place that owns the parking lot, just take off. its not like they're gonna chase you! once you leave their property they can't do anything. if you keep going back, they may have real cops waiting for you close by though, then you're screwed!

I also live in the bay area.

Well I don't know about drifting but a few months ago some friends and I were racing near some buildings and a security guard saw us and called the cops.

BUT we had a guy with a 2 way radio who saw the cops coming so we all slowly drove off. THE cops later caught up to most of us and pulled us over bet they told us that if they saw the race we would get our cars impounded and we could be jailed.
So they couldn't do anything to us we left.

So I'm guessing that unless you're caught racing or drifting. they can't do anything. So radio's are good :D

you'll most likely get a warning if you're not being a dick or anything.
tickets that will mostly get issued is wreckless driving, exhibition if you're an unlucky asshole.

When I went out with a guy to go make a video of him drfiting the cops came and threatened to tow both of our cars, and I wasn't even drifting, I was just filming, I was really surprised that he didn't give us tickets and tow our cars cause it was pretty early its was like 9pm but nobody was in the parking lot where he was drifting at. I've heard of people around oregon get wreckless driving tickets and a guy who was younger than 18 got a wreckless driving ticket and a ticket for staying out past curfew and it was only 12:01 talk about being an asshole. I wanted to ask if a cop does catch you drifting whats the best thing to do do you stay in the car or park it and get out? cause what we did was park real quick and get out then he started talking to us.

best thing to do?

well it depends on the area i guess and what you think the cop is going to do to ya. Me personally if i would know that the cops are going to go easy on you i would stay and just wait and let him give ya a little speach.

Before at parking lots where we meet up to race/drift cops may come and we all may walk slowly to our cars and get in and leave. Most of the time they dont care.

But before while we were racing (cant remember the cars that were invovled i jsut remember lining up 4 wide on a highway doing like a 20mph or 40mph punch) anyway we all took off on 3 honks, saw a cop by the time we were around 100mph then we all just kept going, he hit the lights but couldnt keep up.

So either way use your own judgement (i know i have some pretty shitty judgement) but you have to find out for yourself what the cops in your area are like.

we passed by 2 exits, then exited then looped around, then exited again. Took the roads from there back to the parking lot where we meet to race.

I remember doing a prank like that one time on the freeway at 9pm at night. We used all four lanes and going like 45-50 mph to piss other people off. There were almost no cars ahead of us, but a bunch of headlights behind us.
People used the exit lane to pass though.

The best thing to do if a cop comes to your "drift meet" is to not run. If you run and you get caught your fucked. A lot more fucked than if you just parked the car, got out, and stood there. Then the worst he can do is give you a ticket, not take away your liscense. DONT EVER RUN IF THEY CAN CATCH YOU!

recently in baltimore there was a drift meet at night with a ton of cars.
cops came once and just said we had to leave once we finished doing tire changes and what not. so we went to another good spot of drifting.
the same cops then came again and said that it was private property so we couldnt be there either.
they saw people sliding and knew what they were doing but didnt really mind, as long as you are not an asshole as earlier stated. then again, it can always just depend on the mood of the cop, or how law abiding he is.

cali would be the worst place to get caught drifting. If your somewhere like PA then the cops would just tell you to stop and leave the area. Although, the last time i got caught here after a session at a EMPTY parking lot after a quick rain... the popo told me if he ever caught me again he would arrest me~? so not sure...

i was playing around in an empty parking lot with 3 friends. (not drifting tho)
just doing donuts :p

anyway everyone there (even those not driving) were arrested and given wreckless
driving citations. then released later that night

this was in the "lovely" town of kirkland where cops hate imports, and kids in any kind of car even more.

best thing to do is never give a cop attitude. even tho you could get F**** over like i did. really depends on the cop

it depends on how lucky u r. if u r lucky then u might get an easy cop that wont give u any ticket. if ur not then he can give u all these bs tickets for the dumbest things

i fall under the lucky catagory. me and my friends was drifting in a parking lot around 11pm and this cop sneaked up on us and we didnt see him until he was like 20ft away from us. the funny thing was that the first words out of his mouth was "i can do better than that". all he did was told us to go home b/c its late. when we were leaving he was peeling out and doing donuts. that was like the cooling cop ever. i was lucky b/c at the time i was underage driving(i was 15) and he didnt check us for anything.

I've heard everything from a wreckless driving ticket to a warning to leave. Hate to be repative, but it depends on the cop. I would actually expect a cop to be more lenient, I mean, hey, its not like you're sliding around corners on city streets. I just told the cop that I thought it would be safer to practice here (parking lot) than on city steets. He kind of laughed and told me to go out to williow springs ( our local raceway ).

well one day my friend went out drifting in an empty Kmart parking lot because the kmart hadn't open yet and then he sees a car pull up as he's leaving and then he hears the infamous "whooo whoooo" and he gets pulled over, the cop ended up giving him a paper arrest. he had to get a lawyer but it happened awhile ago and everything turned out pretty good except it cost him a lot of money.
