i just want to know whats a good coilover set i should invest in for drifting... I am looking to spend anywhere up to 1700 but i still want to drive on the street with a little comfort. i was thinking of tein flex but then i seen tein drift spec and just want to know if its good. ALSO WANT TO KNOW IF THE TEIN EFDC WILL FIT ON THE S14... thanks

Kei Office XR's are what you are looking for. They offer a great combo of both street and drift, but i couldnt afford that shit, so i settled with Tein Flex's :thumbsup But i havent installed them yet, i just got them yesterday. I will install them and let you know what i think, but from teh cars taht i have ridden in, they are just what i was looking for. A bit comfortable, but still handle very well.

great drift coilovers aren't made for the streets, unless you're willing to deal w/ 10/8 or higher spring rates and good valving.
i vote tanabe pro-dd.
stiff as balls
thick

tein's edfc = waste of money + lazy driver

Im with raen on this one, good coilovers for drift arent going to be forgiving on the street. It really depends on how serious you are? If a true drift suspension is what you want for around 1700 then the DD's are for you. 10/8 set-up with a helper spring in the rear, the choice is eazy.....if you want to go with something nicer, look at hks hypermax d's or kie-office xt-alpha's or D1 spec.

Lol hey!.... My D2 coilovers are 10/8 spring rate. I think they are great for teh pirce i got them at (50% off retail). Now all i need are the RUCAS and a rear sway bar and I'll be finished w/ my susp til after swap/turbo

tein super drifts are overrated and overpriced.
who wants tein flex's w/ 10/8 springs for $1300+?
b/c that's all they are.

i have megan's. not bad, but i want something stiffer. now that i've driven them roughly 2k miles, they've settled and aren't near as stiff as they were brand new....sigh
guess i'll have to wait until after college for something better....

i was going to ask where megan and kts stand in this? i have tokico blues with springs right now. lower it fin and it rides alright, but not as stiff/predictable as i would like. i like stiff suspension :)

lower end tein is no good... but higher end monotube ones are proven on many competitive autocross cars. you should definitley get the kei office XRs though, because once you have them on, you'll go from "can't get car to oversteer worth your life" to "made tight drifting JDM style sideways y0!"

thanks guys.. im looking into getting the kei office xr. i went to my first drift day with my bone stock 240 and man was it fun. haha. well if anyone else can recommend a coilover let me know cous i dont mind if its a harsh ride cous ive owned cars with stiff suspension.

i have MR's. i ran around w/ them on full stiffness the other day. quite fun. glad i didn't hit up the interstates that day.
FINALLY got to test the coils tonight though. i must say, i'm impressed. i still have some significant understeer, but w/ a little more preload, i think that should be an easy fix for now.

KTS's to me, are the best bang for the buck based on what I KNOW. the rebuild service rocks, the price is good, and the quality leaves very little left to be desired for an entry level/morderate coilover. only thing they need is brake line brackets....but that's what zipties are for.

keep in mind that rebuild service is a big factor in any coilover system you buy.

i vote kts's.
f*ck kei office if you're just starting out.
in a few years (after lots of practice) go w/ something higher dollar.

don't the silkroad coilovers have no adjustabilty at all?? that's what i read or someting like that. i could be wrong.
anyways a couple of my friends have silkroad and haven't really heard anything bad on daily driving basis. track wise i heard nothing but good stuff.
ohlins are pretty much top of the line so if your willing to spend $2k+ kudos to you

ohlins...top of the line? shocks, yes, springs, no.
adjustablility is good if you don't want to stop 2 or more times on your way to work b/c you have to piss.
silkroads are adjustable. whoever told you that is an idiot unless he/she was being specific to one particular coilover system (there's more than one).
