Ok so i'm new to 240's.

what can i get away with wheelwise that doesn't require spacers, longer lugs, or major fender work?

Would:

Here in the Beginner Forum you have a whole mess of information available that you can use to sort the basics out. You can read about the different years, models, what they offer, and so on. You'll also find information on the motors, suspension, brakes, and other components all throughout the forum as well.

In your case, the Wheel, Tires, And Suspension section would suit your needs just fine. Here's an example of a sticky you may find useful: http://www.240sxforums.com/forums/w...-tires-suspension/84701-wheel-tire-info-thread-please-look-before-you-post.html

If you still have any doubts, use the search bar to see if you can find threads already discussing the subject you're curious/confused about as most topics involving general questions, and some specific have already been answered or discussed.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck.

dont get 7" rims, atleast 8's. and dont run high offsets unless you want your wheels super sunk & every1 to make fun of you. 17x8 +12 up front & 17x9+10 or 5ish would be not super aggressive, but just right imo.

ntm that all you need to know is RIMTUCK.com - Search Results

i'll take pics of my hatch with my +20's they dont poke much and it looks aggressive...im sorta running hipari style with my 9 inch rims and my 235/40/18's lol it looks pretty dope on the stock unpainted none front clipped body lol. also whats the cost of spacers nowdays cuz i work at a rim shop and we get them all the time for about 20 bones...i can probably send u a set for your rear, jus pay shipping

It's pretty simple (sort of): let's say u get 16x8 +0 offset. The format is diameter(in) x width(in) offset(location of the surface that meets the hub in mm from the center of the wheel, positive being in the direction of the outside of the car. So 16x8 +0 would be 16 in diameter 8 in width and depending on the rim could have up to 4 in of lip (spoke design and other factors play a part)

ok so spacers are used to push out your wheels to: 1-give yourself a wider stance (equals better handling,) 2-to make their wheels flush (aesthetic purposes,) 3-to clear suspension &/or brake components. your stock studs will suffice the majority of the times. usually people only need longer studs if they use slip on spacers (which arent recommended, research why.) fender work is usually only required if your car is lowered and youre running bigger (both height &/or width) lower offset wheels. but @ stock ride height youre still going to have fender gap so you can go pretty big on both wheels and tires.. but it wont look good... another thing to consider which i see you did inquired about, is the dimensions of the tires.... choose your wheel size first, and then you can play with the tire size, going bigger or smaller as required to make it fit.
also, i agree that youll want to go bigger than 7" width. 8" front & 9" rear is a good start. as well as youll want to go much lower in your offset, 15-20mm seem to be good numbers to work with. just browse thru everyones set up and see what sizes their running & what spacers or fender work it mightve required.
