Wheel Fitment

ALRIGHT.. I know this is disscused EVERYWHERE... but this thread is for people who don't have stretched tires slammed with pulled fenders and shit.

I need to know the biggest wheel size that can fit on a 89' 240sx hatch, WITHOUT rolling fenders and what offset should be bought to atleast not be sunken in. I don't believe in spacers, or anything ridiculous.. Function > Form.

I was thinking of picking up 5zigen wheels that were 17x9 all around with a +15 offset.. would it fit without rubbing? Would they bulge out? Do I need to get maybe an 8" wide in the front? I need the BEST size for a 240sx for front and back, with the offset pleaseeeeeeeeeeee.. Keep in mind... NO TIRE STRETCHING, NO - degree camber to fit wheels.

its not too hard to fit wheels on stock metal. you have to at least roll fenders(easy) to get good fitment. 17x9 +25 would be pretty good to fit like a 255 tire.

If you don't want sunken wheels then you have to roll the fenders. By their design, the fenders require the wheels to be sunken.
^ true that. and most shops will rent you a fender roller for cheap. as far as fitment. 17x9 +15 in the rear will look good. not hella poke like everyone likes. just flush with the fender. but check this site out. i really enjoy how informative it is when deciding fitment

Nah I don't want to fender roll or use spacers.. whats the biggest size I can wheel I can fit wide.. I figured I could fit atleast a 9" wide in the back and 8 at a minimum I would thing? I'm more worried about rubbing the inside on wheel lock with a 9" on the front..?

This site is pretty helpful thanks.
What's the issue with rolling? No visual difference. Now pulling is another story
Yeah, I meant pulling I guess. lol I kinda DONT want to alter the car for the rims and tires.. thats why I'm asking in the first place. Just want a nice fit, straight on no extra work. I might get overfenders later if I decide I want a bigger wheel.. but for now an 8 or a 9 wide would be fine.. I just need to know which would fit. lol.
With 17's you can run 9's in the rear without rolling the fender lips if you stick with a 235 tyre. Any wider and you need to roll the lip on the inside of the fender up vertical. You can get an extra half inch in there. If you add camber you might be able to sit a 10" in there with some stretched tyres - maybe 245's or something?
Offsets play a big part - im basing all this off a pretty conservative offset of around +35 (thats what I had). If you go down to say +15 you may need to lip the guards

I ran 9" rears, +35 with a 235/45 r17 tyre. I had the fenders lipped but probably didnt need to.

Fronts I ran +25mm fenders so cannot help you there sorry.
well you said wheel size but im guessing you mean tire size are you looking for performance like everyone is saying 17 with wide tires or are you looking for the biggest wheel / rim size i have 19" by 7/12 rims on 215 35 zr tires no rubbing and there is barely enough gap under the strut tower to slide a dollar bill under it the sad thing is there is still about 2 inches of finder gap and until i lower it i will not be happy

Woah. We are going to need to see some pics of that shit!
have pics up asap i am about to paint the car so i took them off to do the brake calipers and put the stock back on so i dont have to worry about painting them ill post pics asap
If my clearance on an 8'' rim is any indication, you can easily have a 9'' +25 rim clear the front without rubbing anything. And at least a 9.5'' +30 out back without issue.

As already mentioned by others, rolling is no big deal. If you have a hammer and a baseball bat its pretty easy.
