Really? im talking to a guy over on Njtuners that runs em on his s14, and he has a 1 finger gap on the facory 16s. So i thought i would have a little more than 1 finger gap since im running 17s?

Plus after reading a bunch on em, they seem to fit well with GR-2s.




















im tired of my ride height..even though its almost scrape free, i can pretty much house a bum under the rear wells. :gaah:

1 Finger gap w/ Factory 16's then w/ your 17's there should be no gap...
As for matching the GR-2's I vote no...

Did that take some of your rattle away?

it took 90% of it.. i dont hear it anymore.

Do em yourself LOL it took me about 1.5hr only because i took my time (especially pulling parts for the first time) longest part was getting the damn VC back on. the back part wouldnt line up..and kept hitting the top of the cam holding thingy and the lines on the firewall. Had to ***** shove it into place. If i had to do it again i could knock it out in less than 45min.

I gotta find myself a spare VC so i can send it to Pumacunt to get it P/C'd wrinkle black... :idea:

Bah i keep reading conflicting reports

some say "oh im riding fine on mine" others say "the springs are too stiff for Gr-2s, get Konis or Tokicos"


what springs would you recommend i pair with the GR-2s?

S-Tech's would be much better suited for GR-2's

GR-2's IIRC are +10% stiffer dampening or some where within that range.
Stock spring rate is 2.0kg F & R
MR's are 6.25kg in the Front, thats over 300% Stiffer, there's no way that spring is gonna match that strut they way it should.

I say don't waste your time on the GR-2's and go straight to the AGX's

But I may also be able to get you a deal on some Stance GR+'s that are maybe 200 more then your spring/strut combo...

GR2s are OEM replacement. They're just a tad better than OEM. If you run them with anything aggressive (pretty much most aftermarket springs available for the s-chassis) you will shorten the life span of them considerably.

Jump on zilvia and look for a used AGX setup. Most of the time they'll come with springs as well. I'm seeing too much ebay on your car.

lol i dont have $ to drop like that right now. Only reason im considering springs is that i can use the GR-2s that i already have. If i have to buy new shocks and springs, shit, i might as well get coils. i just want a little drop (no more than a tight 2 finger gap) and ill be fine for a while.

Right now i have 3.5 finger gap rear, and a little over 2.5 front) :(

It's how much the spring lowers the car that you'll have an issue with, it's the spring rate. Anything aftermarket is simply to aggressive for OEM/OE Spec.

If you just want a drop and don't car much about the effect it will have then just get whatever shit you can get considering you already have coilovers on the mind. Better yet, just wait it out for coilovers.

I think ill just do that. Cause i was looking at scoots 240, and his has a very similar drop on Tanabe Springs. I guess you cant get much lower unless you shell out for Tokico DSPEC or AGX or Yellows and get RSR Race springs or MR's. maybe ill wait it out.

but again remember you buy anything now, and that puts you that much further from your LX's keep doing that and I'm gonna get my set before you hahaha

Oh and show some love for my ghetto ebrake aka PRESTONE 50/50! :) :)

Mini Updates:

- Going to glass shop Friday to get Windshield done.
- If time permits, going to try to replace rear caliper and re-use the rotor/pads if they are decent.. If not ill order new ones. As long as my ebrake holds, thats all i care about.

"Next week"

- Replace DP gasket
- install ES Rack Bushing

and thats what I like about the KA too, is it doesnt sound like your avg. 4 Banger, it's got a nice deep rumble with the right exhaust.

I told him to fix it :) and +1 on the KA. Its one very un-4cyl sounding motor. Ive gotten many a comment saying "dude ur car sounds ANGRY, SOUNDS BEAST, ITS a V8 y0, etc."

Funny thing is i dont even have to tell my friends im outside when im picking them up. Just calmly idle in front of the house :D

But those arent the fancy pants slotted and drilled ones :( Maybe i can just get a rear set (blanks) and leave my fronts drilled and slotted?

Rockauto is awesome, but for a tad bit more i can go to my conveniently placed Autozone and get a rear set. takes shipping out of the equation and its pretty much the same thing. its not like ill be thrashing the car to the point where drilled/slotted will benefit me. Especially on the rear.

My pedals been a bit soft lately.. i have to push down a bit harder than id like.. and it feels like i have to use a bit of strength to get decent braking out of the car. prolly just needs a good bleed with fresh fluid.

Gonna go with the Duralax Gold (semi-metallic) mofos. front and rear for 65$ i dont need anything serious, just good braking and minimal dust. Those porters seem pretty aggressive for me.

With shipping they run about 30-40$ more than Blanks. Plus they are coming from CA, so itll be at least 3-5 day wait, and i dont have that much time. (IIRC my 45 days is coming up reallly soon)

AZ Blanks run 24.99 /ea x2 - 50$ + tax = 55ish
R1's 35$ /ea x2 = 70 + 21 s/h = $91
