The US is also stuck on Drag, This is the most pointless shit to me, like NASCAR. Make alot of Power and go in a straight line for the shortest possable time.
You learn more about what an engine can do in an Endurance race. You learn the Balance of the car in a Track or Drift Session. You dont need alot of HP and a basic suspension is fine... That is why it is interesting to most people. Its new to the US, Its Fun, and doen't cost your College Fund.
Better Driving Skill is needed in the US, and if this what it takes... I am all for it.
Peace
Drew
I agree with dis bruddha :)

NASCAR, I don't care how you say it, or how you put it, is still a simple sport. I don't care if you actually have to be a good driver. Even if NASCAR drivers in some sick way are more talented then D1 or N1 drivers, It just doesn't tickle my pickle. I am gonna bust out my dictionary and call it "trite"

I would rather watch Initial D then have to have my ass sit through three laps of nascar, in which my ass would fall a sleep right after my brain did.

240sx are one of the best cars for drifting, we shouldn't need to discuss it. Everyone here should be some what related to drifting.

Fuck that, I want to know more about these people living in my computer. Are they gnomes?
AHAHAHA! that was great!:p

You guys crack me the fuck up, on the one hand you bitch because people think drifting si gay, then in the other you are going around saying fuck Drag Racing and Stock car racing.

If NASCAR didn't take any skill, then there would not be dominate teams, since skills doesnt matter, the winnner should be completely random right? But it isn't. Granted running in circles isn' my cup of tea.

I guess the real question is, why are all of you so invested in whether or not the people on this site approve of what you do? Why do you even bother to have the same argument month after month, day after day.......

I keep arguing cuz im a stubborn ass hole and things have to be my way! :) jus j/k.

You proved your point, I am just bring my argument to the table because I sincerely cannot stand NASCAR and any time the "dominate" team is decided by who changes a tire the fastest, just doesn't amuse me. I am surpised team AAA doesn't win it all.

But we are all off subject. Drifting if fun, if you can find a safe place to do it yall should. Cuz sadly I don't consider my car one that I plan to hit 7s with.

Lil late on this post but no biggie.

I've attempted to drift, I'll say that much. I've gotten my car sideways in an empty parking lot ;) Dont got the balls to go out on a road and attempt that stuff. One of my buddies takes his BMW out drifting every now and then. He attempts to teach me how to do it and to show me how its done.

Then we have another friend who used to live out in Japan who drifted out there. Havent seen him do it but heard he's pretty good. He took out my friends 240sx and did a perfect circle around a light pole at winn dixie...close enough to where he could stick his hand out and touch the pole.

Other than us three, I dont think anyone in my town has made an attempt to drift. They enjoy watchin my BWM friend and I attempt to drift though.

racist asshole? do you see americans bagging japan for integrating english and "japanifying" words? hell, my gf jennifer went to get her nails done at a korean place and they wrote jen fer on the business card. i didn't turn around and start ripping the guy for not being able to spell simple english names.

some of you guys really have a stick up your ass about shit. i hate nascar as well, but some people like it and so be it. i just never got my jollys off watching anything go in circles. as for dirt track racing, true some but not completely. drifting is the ability to go through multiple turns, varying in radius and right or left, and keeping the car sliding(abreviated, yes i know everyone has their opinions like their religions). if you want to take it to its roots, rally racing being the only motorsport were drifting the car is used as a technique and has been since its introduction. and this "dry pavement" thing is bs too. ice, snow, dirt, gravel, wet pavement, dry pavement. if you are drifting then you are drifting. its a word, not just a sport. now every mfer thinks they hold the mecca rule book on what the sport is, means, and can be.

i definitely agree about not having the roads. you have to search long and hard to find some. the closest i had was rallying my camry at land between the lakes, ky. no one was hardly ever on the fireroads and you could throw it through the corners exiting with the tail end dragging in the ditch wrc style. but on paved roads the speeds are going to be higher and typically there aren't any guardrails to stop your ass if you lose it. you are now flipping through a ditch into trees or a cornfield. the best place to really do it semi-safe (and not caring about your times) is at an scca autox. nice, winding, and tight. the only thing you'll do if you lose it is take out some cones. tell you the truth, it was a drifting s13 in an enthusiast created nissan picture that rekindled my interest in these cars. i can understand getting little kids here that mainly just want to be like what they saw on tv but all sprts get that. skating, biking, basketball. not everyone is as knowlegable as you or shares your interests. but that doesn't mean you need to sit on your righteous throne and condemn them. this isn't a pissing contest, its a breast size contest. insert a decent opinion without slandering someone, and for those responding, don't fuel the fire of bigots.

wow this board is pretty damn childish, maybe its time to get back to hondasociety:eek:

anyways, i already have my seperate car for daily driving, a 93 sentra se-r, and am getting my sis's 89 240 PURELY to learn how to drift. its a pos, so im just going to use it to learn how to drift. I am doing it because it looks fun and very challenging.:) not to mention i am an all-around car enthusiast and am determined to learn every kind of driving/racing possible. auto-x, road, drag, drifting, rally, and some open-wheel fun far in the future as well

Their are some really open parking lots nearby that I will use late at nite this summer to learn. thats all

I consider myself a drifter, but being able to do one thing isn't as impressive as being able to race on all levels...
