Thanks Man for understanding where I'm coming from. I have cash but at one point in my life i actually started to take my 3 dollars for lunch everyday and save from that. But then i got hungry during 5th period :nono

supras are fast fuc*ers but 240 is more of my style. I've tried Drifting in an M3 but It handles great so its hard to make my way around it :greddy:

Yeah I will slowly build up to a monster those mod's are from a guy I know that has modded at 240 before. I will go for air-intake, exhaust, headers, suspenision etc. The small things really add up. Then if i get experienced enuf I will add a turbo and have fun. Plus there sooo many civics where I live I would love to bust a cap in their ass. :happyfing :thumbsup :rotflmao . My car will be for drifting as well as daily driving.

I have a question though do you think it would be smart to drag a 240 for fun not in competition?!?!?!?!

when you say for fun do you mean on the streets...its not smart, but people do it. And a drifter/daily driver will get real expensive real fast.

get as much driving time as possible and dont start modding it until you have everything, that way you will have the most experience possible.

you dont need 475 hp to have a fun 240sx, 250 would be a blast, but if you insist....
an rb25 would get you there easier but if you say you already have an sr20 here are the mods you would need to make this last on the street for more than 3 minutes.

sr20+
forged pistons and rings
bored ? over
forged rods
shotpeened and polished crank
aggressive cams
aftermarket valve springs, retainers and rocker arm stoppers
metal head gasket
porting + polishing
big turbo
3in turbo back exhaust
fmic with piping and bov and raing wastegate
air intake
walbro fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator
700+cc injectors
aem or motech ems
lots of gauges
lots of tuning
boost controller

thats just to get there, now you need really wide wheels and sticky tires, suspension,
huge brakes.

just throw a t28 off a s15 with a fmic, exhaust, intake, bigger injectors, 300xz maf and have about 270 really reliable very fun very economic car, then get other goodies like 300xz brake upgrade, wheels, suspension, and get a afc or something and have someone who knows wht they are doing tune it...

then put the 8 grand left in a cd so you dont do anything stupid with it, or just quit your job and coast for a while...

Hey man thanks I'm still new so don't make fun of me when I ask this.

-What is a port and polish i've heard it but never seen pictures of it.
-How much does it cost on average
-What is an LSD < i've heard of it but never bothered to ask

Oh yeah Well im going to go small with the modifications first as I said and then go Hp crazy first of all my uncle the one with the M3 has hated my style for japenese street racers and all I wanna do is kick his ass with my S14. His M3 is Kicking up 328.3hp w/SMG of course. Hes always been the Euro-Tuner so I want to get some revenge on his lil beamer :happyfing . Hes planning on installing a Turbocharger within the next 3 months, exhaust, etc I wanna make him look like a fool and show him a lil sumtin sumtin :smacked49 .

-what kind of numbers will I need to blow his M3 out

do you have any idea how fast a 400+ 240sx is going to be? i hate to be repetitive but you might want to start off small and work your way up. a stock KA in the rain can get a 16 in trouble. Im just trying to say get a lil expierence with a stock sr or ka b/f you go modding the hell outta it. Thats part of the fun is upgrading. Your gonna throw all that cash into it at once and either get yourself in some trouble ,if you dont get some expierence, or your gonna get bored with it. Take your time and do it right and do it progresivly thats what makes it fun

ok, i'm gonna be honest and not rude.
don't do anything but buy a 240sx.
wait a year or so, do lots of research, and try your best not to spend stupid money.
if you spend now, it will be stupid money b/c later one you'll think "ah, shit, i should have waited to buy that"

trust me
think, research, think, research, learn, research, spend.
that's how it should be.

LSD is a drug that was made popular in the 60's. :gaylaugh

Let me tell you bud from my experience, I spent the past 8 months just even searching for the right 240 for myself, and when I found it and actually got it, it was still in more shambles and had more problems than I was expecting. My modification list changes almost on a weekly basis just because of parts I need to replace to get the car up to good daily driver shape and deals that come around. To have your plans in a month for exactly what you will be doing is almost downright impossible to hold.

You also don't understand the power one of these sr powered 240s really have. I was surprised as all hell when I heard the 1/4 times these inline 4 cylinders were pushing out. If you are also actually planning on going 475whp or whatever the number is...you might want to beef up your rear axle, differential, driveshaft, etc.

Once my sr and all the parts that are currently being installed are finished I am hoping to have about 240whp at stock psi(parts listed in sig) and that is more than enough hp to satisfy my speed crave. I'll be putting in a SAFC-II and Boost Controller once my interior is up to par too for some more power but I don't need more than 270whp as a 17 year old. Too dangerous, too many things can go wrong. I also got to start my suspension eventually too.

Also, when you said you will "add a turbo", what did you mean by that?

And how were you not able to get a m3 sideways, or at least able to do 180s? Dont they come with 1.5 way lsd stock in them which makes it that much easier to slide out that rear end of it?

Man I swear I'm worn out you people gotta help me.

I own a 1995 nissan S14 :thumbsup . It is all stock from head to toe interior from exterior :greddy: . Its engine is a SR20DET and its my pride and happiness :1bowdown . I want my car to be fast yet smooth. I've been driving since 15 so I have a little experience (yeah thats illegal) :embarasse I've been a Supra fan since I was 8 I'm 16 and found out that it isn't reliable to have that kind of machine. 240 was the way to go. So I've come to the people at the forums to ask a question.

- I need modifications to achieve 475whp++ I have a bank account that has exactly $16,439.54 and I want to make the meaniest machine around.

- What should I do for my modifications please give me your opinons

- I haven't found any Fuel System packages for my car can you give me some links for them

- Dont tell me to search for parts cause I did didn't find anything just help me pleasee. :12dunno

- Please post sites with Turbo packages, Fuel Packages, etc

thanks -peace-
I think your full of shit because if you realized that Supra's aren't reliable and economical then you should realize that a S14 with 475 hp is none more reliable...

Yeah that is true I might get myself in real big trouble. I was wondering what should I do for modifications. I reliaze 1 year is not enough but with the practice in the parking lots i might get good :/ . So I wanna go with something basic exhaust, headers, interior mods etc

Discussion starter · #30 · (Edited)
Ok yeah you guys think im full of shit and whatever if you recomend me to go basic like exhaust I will take your word for it.

Everyone is saying 280-330hp will be enough also I believe that is true.

So it would be more reliable to go with headers, exhaust, suspension, a small turbo to crank up the power, air intake etc.

Rather than dieing in a 500hp car.

Am I getting it or should I tweak some things.

where do you live? some places have swap packages that include labor and what not since you know absolutely nothing about the car you just bought, dont sweat what they say i'm bout to turn 16 too and my parents are buying me an rb25 and an s14 but im doing everything by myself so they think of it as a learning experience

open up the yellow pages and look under automobile-performance, call all the shops and ask if they do imports and installs or if they dont import see if you can import it and they install it if you have it shipped to their shop

if your just about to start driving and your getting a rb25 powerd s14
1) you will crash because you will have to much hp and you nwill suck at driving (offense meant)
2)you are obviously spoiled if your parents are buying this for you
3)going to get slaped for being such a lucky bastard

we're all trying to make a point that a high powered car is not the right choice for your first car .im 17 and the 240 is my first car believe me the KA is enough for a 16 year olds first car ,sheesh. ive been driving for 2 years . i dont give a shit what you think you know, you dont know shit till you get out there and start driving. There are tons of shit heads on the road. So start with the KA and work your way up end of story.

Thanks Bryant I believe In that. Sdtouge yeah read the thread please before making bad comments about me. I have invested my money into my car by working and saving. Don't tell me I'm going to crash because I dont listen to those kinds of bitch ass remarks.

Kid in my high school senior class had his dad buy him a MKIV Supra last year when he was a junior. He then also put a regular BPU set-up on it producing a lot of horsepower with also what was his dad's money. While he was driving his car with the money his dad gave him for gas, he somehow managed to flip his car over, rolling it and fall into a ditch during the day with no one on the road and the conditions were fine. After totalling that Supra he sold it on Ebay Motors for not even over $5k (he could have got 10 for it since there was no damage to all his new parent paid for mods).
Not even a full month later just after the Mitsubishi Evo 8 is released he decides he wants to buy one with no knowledge of any real specs of the car except "4 wheels" and "fast". So his folks decide to buy him that car and he chooses that he knows everything in the world about cars and starts working on it himself. He loses bolts to his dash when trying to just simply install a head unit (he covered up the missing bolts with stickers). Later, he decides he doesn't like the "style" of the Evo 8 because there aren't enough body kits out for it. Note: he decides to get rid of the car about 2-3 months into owning it. Also note: the kid is still 16 at this point. So he sees an ad for a 500whp dyno'd MKIV Supra for sale and checks it out and likes it. The guy selling the Supra he would trade his Supra for his Evo. As he is driving his Evo 8 to the guy's house to make the exchange and go through paperwork he sees smoke pouring out of his hood so he pulls over. He pops the hood and a pile of smoke comes out. Once it is all poured out he sees a fire in his transmission! So excited that he gets to use his $100 chrome car fire extinguisher mounted on the passenger side door pillar he goes to spray it out and realizes he doesn't know how to use a fire extinguisher. After reading the directions and the fire spreading more and causing more damage he finally puts it out. When he gets to his dealership a few days after they had his car from inspecting the damage done, he comes in and they tell him "You have a hole in your transmission.". He burned a hole straight through his transmission and for the most part just melted the internals of it completely. When he told me this I said "Well that's because whenever you drive you redline your transmission.". I have never driven with him before but all he did was smile as if he took pride in the fact that not only was I right, but he did do nothing but redline which destroyed his transmission. So his under 10k mile car had to go through a high end mechanical procedure of replacing the transmission. Maybe a week after he got the car fixed he brought it over to CarMax (the biggest rip off dealership ever) and sold it to them with all the mods for $18,500 when originally bought stock for $32,000. He could have easily sold it for more but just wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible.
Time for his third car that he got a month later, another MKIV Supra paid for, by his parents. 'He thought' he got a good deal on his 1996 MKIV Supra since as he said, it was hardly ever driven and completely unmolested because it was an older owner. The car had over 100k miles, and had a tasteful amount of aftermarket parts on it...and any person (other than him I suppose) could have realized this car had seen it beatings by the way the engine bay was looking. Any how, he has somehow managed to keep this car for more than 6 months without blowing it up yet. There is also over $15k worth of aftermarket parts his parents paid for on the car right now.

Moral of this long, seemingly pointless story is that he is 17 and has f*cked up two great cars, and soon to be a third with complete disrespect to his parent's money (even though they are filthy rich). Start out small then build up.

It's a lot of power you want to crank out of there. If you do want bigger numbers get a rb25 or 26, they will be a lot more reliable and be able to withstand a lot more power than the sr. But right now it sounds like you got yourself in the right direction. I actually consider possibly going the route of my setup except maybe replace a couple extra little bolt-ons that I did not cover in my sig if you want a little extra power.
