Funny you say that, in the new issue of autoweek (I think the same one as the Challenger) it has a Jeep Cherokee with, you guessed it, a 6.1L Hemi with 420hp and 420-lb-ft and weighs 4788lbs. It goes 0-60 in 4.9 sec! I mean what kind of soccer mom needs that. It also gets 13mpg. It is cool that you can buy a porsche fast jeep, but who is going to buy it? It is rediculious that to sell cars, you have to put an engine that 5 years ago would have been called unreal in most sports cars. It is almost rare to find a car with moderate hp numbers these days. 99% of the time people use 20% of there cars max hp. It doesnt take a 250hp Accord to get a family to go 80mph on the freeway.
Well A. thats just one engine option for the Jeep B. if someone ends up buying your 6.1 liter Jeep instead of a Cayenne Turbo isnt that good for your buisness? I can imagine Jeep projected only selling a small amount of the SRT cherokee. BESIDES there are plenty of cars wiht moderate hp #s out there, if you want big HP with new cars you're going to have to shell out the green, thats the way its always been.

okay hemi history here

old school hemi's had pistons that looked like an upside down U

that hemisphereical piston and matching the head cause NO turbulance in combustion so it had very low compression

now the new ones have dips on each side of the upside down U so they can create turbulance in cumbuston to create power with out shitty compression and horrrrrrrrible emissions
