No. With all the 240 models it is a nominal difference. The only problem with the hatch is the large area in the back left open. Compared to the coupes it is a large void. However a good suspension and suspension component setup will suffice for 90% of the drivers out there. The 89-93 coupe chassis is only slightly stiffer. I have driven S13 coupes, hatches, converts, and S14s. There is only minor differences, but they are all slightly different in the way they handle. Surprisingly the S13 convert is the stiffest chassis of any S chassis car. I think if you buy any S-chassis car it is worth it. They are all great handling cars compared to even todays cars. They can keep up with 95% of the cars out there when the roads get twisty.
