Yeah hows that book btw? I found it pretty damn helpful, it can get pretty deep.Thier's just stuff you'll read and think man thats really out there but then when you actually find yourself in that situtaion you'll go back to the book and start realizing how and why it's done.

Yes I will be at the auto-x:supercool
I like the book, I found the histogram and whitebalance info helpful. I wish they talked about lens filters though. I want to get a polarizing filter for my Tamron lens (since the lens doesn't rotate while focusing like the kit lens does) but I don't know what is appropiate for a DSLR. Someone at the camera shop said you need it to be multi-coated since it will be thinner and not mess w/ the camera's white balance and AF.

What I was telling you guys was stuff I could barely remember, just rough figures. He's in the 14's and dipping into the 13.9's. I've personally talked to jimmy over the phone several times about the irtb setup. Currently he's pushing even more power since he's just installed a 99-00 bp engine, in the mag he still had the 1st gen bp engine which makes less power to begin with and his car was chosen and done for the feature more than 4 months before the mag came out so a lot of tuning after that was done. In addition to the instantaneous throttle response and better airflow the reason why he's able to pull off those times with that hp figure is because the car weighs so little and the gearing is very short. The idea of irtb's isn't about significant power gains.

Here's the link to a timeslip showing a 14.1 1/4 run with 130whp(which would be about 170 at the fly) on stock internals with the new engine http://www.fuji-racing.com/fujiracing_046.htm
Now thats with the stock 9:1 compression and stock cams, imagine if he upped the compression and used aggressive cams he may be able to make mid-high 13's! 1/4 times are pretty irrelavent to how this car is gonna be used but he uses it as a benchmark to show people how fast the car can be since telling someone who doesn't understand the advantage of irtb's isn't going to be woo'd by the low hp figures.

If you're serious about getting irtb's he will work with you on pretty much any japanese inline engine, the kits he shows are what he has readily available off the shelf. He never had an s2k irtb kit, but if you goto the site you'll see an s2k project car because he was willing to work with the guy in putting together one. In your situation it'll be much pricier since you have an inline6, thats 2 more tb's needed. Fuji-racing isn't the only shop doing these setups though, they just happen to be creating a big buzz with the miata community since the owner of the shop is a championship time attack and auto-x'r

I talked about this stuff a while ago on this thread btw
im starting to head back to the way of my idea of a NA SR...when i get a coupe....i wish i had 900 to buy the one down the street from slappy.

actually, powercoating will kill the efficiency of the intercooler. It would be worse than the paint that is on there now. annodizing wouldn't have any affect since it bonds to the aluminum rather than being an actual coating which is why I want to go that route.

annodizing is actually more similar to a dye than a coating.

would you guys be able to acid wash it though? I can't think of any other way to get the paint out of the fins and I'm probably going to end up just spraying it with radiator paint since nobody knows an annodizer.

i can have it hot tanked for you for $10 , if you wanna meet up somewhere.

Brad -good work man! , hope you it that shit done soon..

you guys ever take a shower and get soap in ur pee hole , then when you get out , and take a :monkeypis , it feels like :flamers

would that get all the paint off without damaging the fins or getting anything inside that shouldn't be in there?

You might already know this but i'll say it just incase, in the dslr world filters are very minimal in use since you have so much control over your color and exposure in comparisons to film, about the only common filters used for digital are uv and standard cirular polarizer filters so most books won't dig deep into them though I do have another book by the same author that digs deeper into exposure and digs deep into filter use since the book is aimed towards film and digital users. Some dslr's can use linear filters without a problem but just to have peace of mind and bypass any hassles just go for the circular. Lens thiness can vary with both, the main difference between linear and polarizer is in how the light strikes the lens.

Which camera shop did you goto? Don't tell me ritz or camera shop!! Never ever step foot in those shops:gaylaugh Their staff at nearly every store is rarely knowledgeable, about the only person i've talked to who actually knew what I was talking about was one guy in the wilmington location who told me that 90% of thier customers are simple point and shooters and that most of thier staff at nearly every store has just enough knowledge to cater to point and shooters if that.

The camera shops in mainstreet newark seem very knowledgeable. Might have to do with the university location where there are pro photographers and the fact that they aren't huge chain stores.

Hoya filters are touted as being some of the best out there, i've had great experience with them click this and find the right mm thread size and you're good to go:
