esco, can we get a shot of the new supra?

People keep calling it the new supra but it's not. It's actually a true supercar that toyota is building like honda did with the nsx. It will be an MR layout and have at least 500hp.

14.5drift I don't think we're trippin hardcore but we have to face the reality that we're never going to get a true skyline GTR in the states. I think people are setting thier standards too high for this car. I for one don't believe that this is the successor, just like I don't believe that the next possible silvia will be either because lables don't make a car. The gtr isn't supposed to be a turboed Z car in disguise, it's supposed to be beyond that. I'm calling it the 350z/g35 tt. Thats just my opinion, many will disagree with me and i'm totally fine with that.

For whoever said it was photoshopped :greddy: That was a photo taken from the nurb along with all the other cars that were there, if you had the magazine with the photo in front of you right now you wouldn't have questioned it. This isn't the only form of media that has that pic either.

It is said that the front will have a different grill and the airdam will have bigger openings and that the tailights may follow the circular skyline trend but other than that, the prototype you see there is what the car will be said a nissan exec.

btw about spy photo floating around of the new toyota, the so called next supra, looks more like FR (front mid-ship) too me. the frontend is too long for a mr, if thats what you guys are talking about.

I just got the mag today and it had discussion in they could use a 3.0 version of the VQ or the 4.5lt version of the VK or a 4.0 of the VQ/VK

The toyota supercar called the "TXS" is said to be MR in the article thats in the newest scc. I'm pretty sure it's true since they had journalists(or know) at the nurb to take those photos and or research about what their looking at. The rear end is boxy and tall and behind the side windows notice what appears to be vents because they didn't cover that part with the black fabric. Note the front is flat and low like a lambo and in that second angle it doesn't look that long. I'm not ruling out the possibility that it's fr but it looks mr to me like i've speculated before. It just looks like thier hiding something behind there

But notice how there might be what looks like a gas tank lid right below that vent looking part. IS THIS MR OR FR? I'm getting confused :crazyrant

Well the next Toyota "Supra" is likely to be a Lexus because Toyota doesn't want to market a $90,00 + car as a Toyota. I would geuss that Toyota would also make a Supra for them and call the Lexus something else. Kinda like Nissan 350z and the Infiniti G35. But that's just my opinion.

In Car and Driver it says that the ducts towards the rear of the car are for a rear mounted radiator. The car is supposed to be FR, there wasnt enough room up front to have the radiator and the aerodynamics they wanted, or something along those lines. Ill dig up a scan of the article in a second...

edit: also i notice peugeot has a similar car in a makings the 907, almost oddly similar to toyota. FR style

yeah, i read that in this month's R&T. some other magazine said the concept car was still having some understeer problems. according to R&T though, that's still just a concept one of a few concept bodies, the other(s) have yet to be seen in public.
keep in mind that nissan's president said the new car would be new from the ground up, new platform and everything. so keep your hopes up that this g35 knock off body won't make it to the showroom floor.

Yah thats why I was dissapointed. Lets hope it's not just a 350z/g35 tt(i have a 90% feeling that it will be though )

Relax people, that is just a test mule with the G35 body while the suspension is being develop by lotus in UK. Rumors are Lotus is developing the chasis for the next GTR, while Cosworth will be working on the powerplant.
