300zx rims on backwards....DANGER!!!??

Ok, i'm rocking the 300 zx 5 lug rims. They have like 5 fat spokes in a swirlish design..(thats the best way to describe them, but you should all know what they look like)

NOW, my question is....

Will putting the rims on "backwards"(meaning the "swoosh" part is facing backwards instead of forwards) be dangerous? Are the rims ONLY meant to face one direction?

Are they designed to take stress from one direction? Will it break/crack easier if i put them on the opposite way?

The reason i'm asking is.... I mounted the tires on the rims backwards... So to make the tread direction go the proper way, i have to put the left rim on the right, and the right rim on the left...

Im also concerned because i previously broke one of these rims. I dont remember what direction it was facing, but basically there was a crack ALL THE WAY THROUGH one of the "spokes". That was WITHOUT stress impact...just the stress of hard driving, and maybe a rim defect(i hope)

I doubt it would actually matter…they aren't exactly a "spidery" ultra-light design, there's plenty of metal in them. Still, I'd probably err on the side of caution and mount any directional-rotation part the right way. $40 for a mount and balance is a small price to pay just to be sure, but I'm also an overly careful person (most of the time).

shouldn't matter. They enginneer stock wheels so that they can run backwards when people accidentally mount them backwards...etc. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here though.

um the rims are made one way. it just happens that they "reverse" on opposite sides. its not going to do anything in any "dangerous" way. they dont have any kind of air flow testing or anything retarded like that done to rims anyway. unless maybe your some kinda land speed person

the rims were origionally designed to pull air out from the brake area, that is all you will loose

avoiding that kind of annoyance is worth the 9 bucks a wheel for me.

I don't think it will hurt anything but paying a little extra to avoid damage is probably best. It shouldn't really be a big concern unless you drive the car hard a lot but those rims were designed to help fan out or dissipate heat from the brakes so putting them on backwards would cancel out that engineering feat.
