I would like some of your opinions, here are my choices

1. spend $1100 for a 1990 5-speed

2. spend $800 on a 1993 Automatic

What should I do!!

FYI- If I did purchase the auto I would do a manual conversion

jus buy the manual. less headache and youll spend probably 300 on the conversion.

driveshaft alone is around 150
I got mine for 35.00

Carl u still beat me, but it beats 150.00

Talk the guy down on the manual.
Is the asking price 1100.
If it is, I am sure u can talk him down

How are the cars, any thing wrong.. etc... Condition of the car !!!!

thanks for the input guys, both are rust free which is rare in michigan but anyways I am planing on turboing the KA24 and im not doing any conversions on the body or anything or engine swaps, the 1990 only has 116,000 mi!! I think i am going to go with that, he is asking $1300 so I want to get it for $1000. Thanks for the help, now I can just spend the money on something else.

Consider this. Automatic street cars usually run anywhere from .5 to 1.5 seconds slower than the manual in the 1/4 mile. If you aren't buying your car with speed or drifting in mind and just want a good looking daily driver then go for it. If, on the other hand, you're looking to perform, go manual.

those are some nice numbers you made up.

when it comes to drag racing, you can't beat a built automatic. but for fun and any other type of driving, the manual is gonna be your best bet. personally, i'd just wait for a manual chuki to turn up in the paper. it's not like these cars are uncommon :D
