Best placement of 10" sub to retain trunk space?

Has anyone been able to fit a 10" sub in the trunk access area? It looks like a good spot but it is cutting it close for the sub.

I'd like the stealthiest possible position.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Victor :)

I am trying to accomplish the same thing. I think 10's will barely fit.

on my s14 i used 2 8s. I made an infinite baffle box (free air) I sealed off everythingg from the trunk to the interior with a shit load of foam and dynamat. IF you do that u need to make sure the trunk is sealed from the interior. It hits really good but not too low. The plus is that it dosent weigh much either and the speakers are secure. On the s14 the fuel pump is up there and my speaker magnet is like 2mm away from fuel pump plate.

i could only fit an 8 in the s14. A 10 will most likely fit in a s13.
s14's have smaller trunks that s13 coupes. Dam and I thought my trunk was small!!!

I just put mine dead smack in the middle. Put stuff on both sides.
i thought it was better to face the speaker towards the back

forgot to add. i shoved 2 12s in my trunk with 2 amps infront of it. if you can find somewhere else to mount the amp i dont see why it wont work.

nah, when you face the speakers towards the back, the trunk just rattles like crazy, plus to me the bass seems deeper when it's facing in the car with the backseat down.

gee, nobody wants to try the install that they have on 240sx.org?
if you get adventurous, you can try to put them underneath the side panels on either side of the back seats. i did that. it is a pain in the ass, but well worth it if you do a good job. i cut holes in the panels, and put 6x9 speaker vents over them to let the sound out. you also have to put some dynamat on the backside of the panels, and seal off the back of that area that goes through to the trunk. if you care anymore, i can send some pics that i have of the finished process. this saves ALL of your trunk space for any garbage you want to put back there. like i do :p
email me if you are interested in that info.

If trunk space is what you need do a footwell box on the passenger side. You can build up to a .7 cu.ft. sealed box which will work great for most performance 10" subs. Use fibreglass to get the contour of the well and 5/8" MDF for the baffle. I've done them in a few Ferrari's NSX's and S2000's and they really work great.
