Bolt on 5 lug front hubs for S13. No spindles.

Well today I took posession of 3 sets of front 5 lug hubs that bolt directly onto the front of an S13 front spindle:thumbsup . No S14 spindles needed:nono .

The boltup was perfect. Now, there is a very slight offset difference. To be able to bolt up stock Z32, Q45 or S14 5lug brakes in the front, you have to use what looks to be roughly a 5mm spacer inbetween the hub and the rotor. This pushes the rotor out to the original position for the caliper to fit perfectly. I was thinking that this is nothing compared to the cost of doing front 5 lugs with S14 parts.

2 Front hubs I located (I'm thinking $150.00 per set for resale value) + 2 Spacers you can get from an auto parts house for under $20.00 and then shipping. It looks like the fronts can be done for right under $200.00 bucks...:eek3dance

.....VS......

Buying 2 S14 front hubs at $200.00 per set, 2 S14 spindles at like $250.00 a set and I read a few places that you need the S14 balljoints or the whole control arms for the fronts. The cost sucks, bigtime...

I know that you guys don't really know me yet, I mostly just read info cause I never had an S13 or S14 of my own. I have just been around helping a friend with his untill now. I bought a 90 coupe that's in pretty good shape. For anyone who wants to see a bit of my background just go to www.zcar.com and search my name "pallnet". Check that and my website to see that when it comes to parts, I'm serious.

I just thought I would let yall know what I found.

Yes sir, you're 100% correct about that. I will be going to pickup some spacers tomorrow and get a look at them. If needed I'm equipted to make the spacers but I'd rather source them made close to what I need and I can mod them to work. This would keep the cost down. I'm sure I can put this front kit together for $250.00 or less. I will update and take pics as I can. I have to pickup some rotors when I get the spacers tomorrow. I have a few sets of Q45 calipers so, I will use those for the mockup.:thumbsup

At the moment I haven't found anything better priced for the rears but the rears are easy to source and don't cost a fortune used.

So basically you're tellingus that you 'found' hubs that work and that you're going to put together a kit for around $250. You're not telling us the car they came off of. Hmmm, the point of this thread? If you're not telling us what we can use, then why even post up? You might as well just kept it to yourself.

ummm it's his right to use the info he found to sell hubs that he finds...maybe he even makes his own from scratch...who knows...point is...if it bothers you...find something that works yourself.

id like a front set with Q45 calipers if you dont mind...get up some pictures and some more info and i'll be one of your first customers...im completely rebuilding my s13 and it just so happens im working on my steering/front braking/front suspension as we speak.

any word on releasing a rear set as well?

This is what I do. I see problems such as: "Needing almost the complete frontend from an S14 to go 5 lug on an S13" and I look for ways around that.

I have been into Z's since I can remember and one of the things I did for those guys is offer O-ring fuel rails for the L motors where they are normaly barb.

So I do have trade secrets because this is, as stated above, how I feed my little girl. This is something one should respect.
The reason I post that I have these items is not to build the hype for a new product cause, something like this WILL sell well on it's own. It's just to let you guys know that it's something that will help you out.

If anyone is wondering, I do not sell anything that I will not run on my own car. They will be available in a few days.

wait, what about bearings? Do you include new ones or do we have to pry our old ones out and reuse? I saw attain hubs on rbmotoring.com complete with bearings (all gto/attain hubs come w/ new bearings pressed in) for about 350 or so. That seems like a better deal for those of us who are going w/ Z brakes and not Q45.

From everything that I have read, It's a tossup as to how much $$ you want to spend on the brakes. Q45's are cheaper then Z32's but both bolt right on from what I have seen. I'm going with Q45 cause I'm building a sleeper and I don't want my car to look like it's been modded. Not to mention that I have 3 sets of calipers I scored from a yard.

I picked up some new Q45 rotors and pads today for my setup. They didn't have any kind of spacers there at that place so I machined one just for mocking up and create the first prototype kit. I'm going to another place tomorrow to see if they have some. If not, I will order some online and this will kind of slow the project down a little.

I also discovered a minor problem with the hubs. This is nothing for you guys to be worried about. I will alter them on my lathe and it's nothing with structure integrity.

The hubs are used and have bearings in them. I spun each one at the top speed of my lathe and none of them have a bearing hum. Anything I sell will be in perfect working order. I have a great standing with Ebay, Paypal and I'm known worldwide within the first and second generation Z guys crowd.

I will make these as bolt up as possible for you guys before I let them go.

I may post a pic or two tonight. I'm going out to the garage and run my lathe for a few.

We're talking front hubs, not rears. N/A Z32 rears bolt right up, fronts are another story.

Ok, I altered 2 sets but it's getting late and I don't want to pissoff my neighbors by running the lathe after 10:00pm but, I have what's needed to do a trial fit tomorrow morning on the front of my 90 coupe. I still need to score some rears for my personal car so, the hunt is on.

BTW, how thw he!! do you post pics here?

Ok here's a pic of the hub next to the spacer and one of my Q45 rotors. The spacer is made a little thick JIC. I can always machine it down to the exact thickness if it's needed. If the spacer is needed then I will most likely have them made in aluminum. If the spacer is needed, it will go under the rotor and I will press in longer studs to make up for the spacer.

The hub looks like any other hub, I guess. The real good pics will be of the test fitting with brake parts. I already know they fit the spindle cause I test fit them on a junk car.

I have no idea why the pic will not work. I did everything correctly cause I post them on another site all the time but ooh well. You guys will have to settle for the link.

What I was meaning is that this thread doesn't sound like tech. To me it sounds like its a fao sale thread. I'm all for finding new/used parts that'll work and save money. Hell, if I have some money to spend then I may just pick up a set from this guy. But, all I can say is that once people start to get this, there gonna know that its from type A car and go to junkyards themselves to get it. I wish you the best of luck with this, and like I said, I may pick this up myself. Show some pictures of the install.

Considering I had to machine them and the cost per hour of a machine shop tech to do what I have done. It might not be something everyone will want to take on, on their own.

I would think this thread is both, tech and sale. I say both cause there is a tech side to getting the parts ready for install and test fitting. I understand that I'm not asking a question and needing some kind of tech answer but, is all "tech" asking questions or is it also offering up tesh solutions for problems? And yes it is kinda a for sale thread cause the end result will be a part for you guys to buy.

I will have some pics of the test fitting tomorrow and once I know everything will workout, I will post in the "for sale" forum for you guys to buy them.:thumbsup

Not to rain on your parade, but I got my Attain front hubs for $300. Billet, with brand new bearings, direct bolt on, no hub modding, and no spacer deal.. So I still don't understand why make a custom setup, or why use all S14 parts?

which one would you like?

who cares what you got....i got s14 fronts also but its a lot more work involved than what he is talking about...and last time i checked... 300 is still more expensive than 250.
