I was wondering if any body knows anything about this. I read somewhere, that you could get ca20 internals and stuff into a ca18det block. Is this possible?

take a ca20 crank and put it into your ca18 block. you either need new rods or lower the piston pin height 1.5mm. dont use the ca20 rods or pistins period. only the crank. ph yeah fuck sr20det. why give him that advice. my ca18 will mop up your sr20 any time. the sr20 isnt some savior motor and the ca18det owns the sr20.

thanks for the info nomore_mr2.

Why is it a bad idea to use the rods and pistons? are they crap in the the ca20?

Also, if you stroke out the ca18det it would probably push out more torque than the sr20det wouldn't it. Seeing that the new specs for the ca would be a bore stroke of 83X88 as compared to the sr20 86X86. Longer stroke=more torque? More bang off the line, smokin the sr20.

anyways, is there also a way to bore out the motor to make it a true 2.0?

What other parts would I need to acquire if I only use the crank off of the ca20? Where is a good resource to get these parts?

thanks

hey,
the rods in the ca20 suck. there are tiny and wont hold.
the pistons also suck well work work for a turob apllication. i have je pistons in my ca18det. you can bore it to a 1.9l with je or with the greddy pistons or the jun. for rods mine are stock ones shotpeened and polished. my engine is still a 1.8l but i plan on doing over 500whp with it.
i am planning on building a ca18 with a ca20 crank. i found a spare ca18 block and ca20 crank. i am going to use teh stock ca18 rods but have custom pistons make. as for ordering i dont know any reputable paces. just start calling places.

hah first off i have a fully built ca18det. unless your car has over 450rwhp dont talk shit. my engine was last dynoed at 480rwhp and since then has gotten a bigger turbo tomei 20 cams switched the hal tech to a sds em3-f and a bigger tb and surge tank. so i should easily put down 550 rwhp. can you beat that? you and your played out sr20det prolly has a fmic and down pipe. you prolly talk mad shit when you really have a ka24 with bolt ons. wow i'm impressed.

HA HA first off proof is in the taste of the pudding.
1)proof of dyno sheet
2)proof of dyno sheet
3)proof of dyno sheet
Those are my 3 requests. And dont tell me you dont have a scanner. Kinko's! Remember!
I still run a haltech, Mute to go backwards to SDS? yuck!

oh yeah no big deal over a hlatech. sds comes with alot of nice features and way easier to use. my local shop here swears by sds and he has a toyota pick up truck with a 2jz in it and only did 10.3 so i know its a fine unit.

i'm sorry i dont have pics for you. and i am not all toned down. i will still walk all over you in my ca. this is a pointless internet arguement and i live 2k miles away from you so its not like we are gonna meet on the street anytime soon. i still say screw sr20's and go ca18. it bet it costs you a hell of alot more moey for your sr to reach the same power my ca is. can yours rev to 9k stock? do you have a iron block adn froge pistons stock? can you redline to 9500 rpm everyday without worrying about anything? point is your on your keyboard bashing a ca and not even helping foomanchu about his orignal question and had no common sense reply to begin with. i was simply helping him out till you pissed me off.

yada, yada, yada ya.

No I dont have to rev to 9500rpm, to make hp. I make lots O' hp long before that. Rev dont make Hp remember that. So guess what I'll be long gone before you reach your redline. HA HA HA so catch me if you can. Hey distance has nothing to do with me racing you, I'll come see you. You getting scared yet.

je pistons
stock rods shot peened and polished
cryo treated bottom end
os giken twin plate clutch
hks manifold
hks t04r turbo
hks wastegate
720cc
skyline gtr fuel pump

yeah thats the important stuff. and my motor makes full boost(25 psi) at 5800 and i shift at 9500. i have plenty of useable power band almost 4k in boost. and the ca doesnt rev slow you may jump off the line but soon after i would reel you in and sling shot past you.
