I would like to know how to remove the speed limiter on my 1992 240sx can any one help? thank you.
***** please, you've made the commute from mizzou to STL, and you don't want your speed limiter removed?warpig2003 said:yeah i was going to say search.
and i have the same question... is there really a need to remove it? messing with electronics in cars sucks and i dont think its worth risking messing shit up so you can race your friends civic at 130mph.
but welcome to the boards!
man.... ive got going 115 on 70 and honestly it just scares me. but, i dont know if its more the speed or more the mysterious smoke that comes out my shift boot when i go to fast for too long...Revolution240sx said:***** please, you've made the commute from mizzou to STL, and you don't want your speed limiter removed?![]()
well yeah i suppose if i had a track only car id probably remove it. what kind of track is it? i wish there were tracks in my area that were big enough that i could get going that fast.Gilgamesh said:What if he wants it off for track use? I'll be taking mine off if the SR20 has one on its ECU, I still have to search, granted mine will be track only and the main course being built here is fast and open (same designer as Infineon) Z06's are expected to hit 180's on the straight, so I would expect an SR20 to get well past its limiter on a track like that.
Although, that could be n00b in me talking, I have some more research to do.
i've wrapped the speedo down to the 6 oclock position on 70, no problemswarpig2003 said:man.... ive got going 115 on 70 and honestly it just scares me. but, i dont know if its more the speed or more the mysterious smoke that comes out my shift boot when i go to fast for too long...
i dream more of getting my cruise control fixed then going faster than 115.
hey man... do you have your car at mizzou these days?Revolution240sx said:i've wrapped the speedo down to the 6 oclock position on 70, no problemsbut then again, no mysterious smoke, either. going that fast certainly isn't necessity and obviously isn't the safest thing to be doing, but i think that if you own a car you should be able to drive it as fast as you want... you may never actually go over 115 but it'd be nice to have the option, wouldn't it?
i'm actually back in saint louis this semester -_- i should be back down there in the fall, though. next time i come down that way i'll give you some advance notice though, you need to show me the good backroadswarpig2003 said:hey man... do you have your car at mizzou these days?

nah. my lebaron topped out at 125.D-Bo said:chances are that any car that is slower than yours will have a lower top speed. hondas and escorts max out at or less than what the 240 maxes out at so you shouldn't worry about that. besides, your car is fast enough to end a race before you get to your top speed.
you have no i dea what your talking about. a stock 240sx is extremely slow. my moms honda civic was faster and it tops out way higher. and dont generalize hondasD-Bo said:chances are that any car that is slower than yours will have a lower top speed. hondas and escorts max out at or less than what the 240 maxes out at so you shouldn't worry about that. besides, your car is fast enough to end a race before you get to your top speed.
