i dont have a 240 yet but i was just wondering how the ricer nametag was on the 240. i did a search on youtube, streetfire, and zippyvideos and was not happy with the vids there.

anyone know of any good vids of imports actually proving ppl wrong? the only ones i find are 88 civics with a boost gauge and no turbo. and guys in stock mustangs and camaros and such kicking the crap out of em.

umm... silvia when did i say i cared? i have 2 honda preludes atm. one r33 skyline bodykit, aem intake, header, full stainless exhaust. and the other is my winter car atm. it dont bother me in the least beacuse i know im not. and yes they annoy me but dont they annoy everyone?

i was just wondering if the calling ppl ricer was big where u all live and if the imports in your area support the ricer claims or do the imports represnt performace?

when i visited seattle it was a city of rice..... though good fried rice..... lol nah up there pretty much everyone modding their cars is either serious about it or an asian..... very minimal riced out cars to my suprise.... ton of evos though.

here in GA is completely diff. I see focus's and civics everyday with "two tone" (unpainted half cars) with the most hideous body kits ever...... its a natural occurance... the farther away from japan you get (or the farther south you get) the more ignorant ricers there are.

since when is a kitted car rice? a half done half painted bodykit falling off is rice. my car is done right with stock taillights and exhaust tucked under the kit with stock spoiler. so anything other than stock u guys consider rice?

and this thread wasnt suppose to cause flameing of me or anyone else it was a very simple question about the term "ricer" in your area. thanks for all that responded with their areas.

seems like im the only one up in the cold states lol i have to garage my car for a couple months due to the amounts of snow we get up here in WI.

so u guys are pretty much calling all sponsered show cars rice. the whole point of custom is making your car not look like your car. when someone walks up to your car they say "yeah nice stock 240" when they walk up to mine they say "what kind of car is that".

sorry but i dont agree that a car has to look stock to not be rice. almost every car a SEMA, Hot import nights, and the rest all have bodykits that dont even resemble stock apperance.

but whatever as i stated many times this wasnt a thread to flame me it was a simple question. if u cant answer that question than dont post plz.

and if a mod wants to close it plz do this isnt what i intended it for. as i now realize the term "rice" is a little touchy on this forum. was mearly ment for fun.

that do luck kit is wind tunnel tested though? I know it adds aerodynamics to the car.

Anyways, you put a R33 bumper on your car, thats rice. Most 240 owners love clean simple looks on their cars, either OEM aero or the various clean body kits that are out there for our cars, and no that the bodykits you see in super street, no invader! I dont know where im going with this anymore, haha.

i guess the word has many different meanings to many different ppl well anyways i learned alot from the replies.

a person will never be able to make everyone like his car all that matters is that that the person does.
that's a pretty good way to look at it. Personally, I don't like any car that puts looks first. I hate show cars that don't get driven or raced. I love race cars, whether they look stock or not. my car has an rb20 swap, bolt ons, some custom fabbed engine bay stuff, and I just put on 300zx wheels and brakes, the first non engine performance upgrades I have ever done to my car. I was beating most anyone who would call me rice before It looked like anything. Actually, my car has always been liked by import and domestic guys, and that probably goes for alot of 240's (not the riced out ones).

If your car is so fast that noone can beat you, and they call you a ricer then it doesn't really mean shit, but if someone decides your prelude is rice because it has a gtr bumper, well you can't really back yourself up. You spent your money on looks first, so I would generally call you a ricer, even though your prelude is by far not the most tasteless thing out there. not to flame though.

to actually answer your question, civics (and most hondas) are so common and generally not that fast, that they get called ricers a lot. I see more swapped 240's than kitted ones, so I think they are a car that people build for performance, and they get a lot of respect on the road. you will hardly ever be called a ricer in a swapped, clean looking 240, you may get called it in a slow, stock engine, clean looking 240 ( but probably not) and you will definitely get called a ricer w/ a stock engine, no performance mods, ugly kitted 240.
