ok so the other day i wanted to take my s13 out to drift, then when i attempted to use my e-brake it wouldnt lock up my rear. is my e-brake broken??? ive inspected the e-brake cables and there fine. ever since i got my car i never messed with the e-brake it doesnt have the drift button its completely stock. then i just changed my pads and rotors and now my e-brake seems to be worse. any help on what it could be and what i can do

Sounds like you need to adjust your ebrake cable? Consult the FSM on how to do so.... If that doesnt work, maybe someone else will chime in with another thing to look at.

From Google: "How to adjust e brake for drifting"

if it's an S13, park the car, pull the e-brake up,

there should be a hole under the pole towards the bottom off the the boot.

inside the hole there's a 10mm bolt. tighten it until you have a few millimeters of free play.

you can remove the center console so it's a lot easier. that way you can just tighten the nut wit a wrench instead of a socket while the handle's all the way down.

if that doesn't work, get under the car and check to see if the e-brake lines are connected to the bottom of the rear calipers on both sides.
the FSM states...

1. pull ebrake up
2. loose nut all the way
3. pump brakes to get brakes into the desired position
4. pull 3/4 up
5. tighten nut

Are you removing power from the rear wheels when you are applying the e-brake? If you don't hold the clutch in while pulling the e-brake, it's going to do almost nothing to help you rotate. Just try doing an e-brake u-turn without holding the clutch in, then do the same thing while holding the clutch in upon initiation, you'll see what I mean.

ok so i did the first recommendation

the e-brake some what got a bit tighter but when i tried pulling the e-brake while driving it still doesnt lock up my rears.

The stock ebrake will not always lock up at slow speed or when just driving straight, on my car I have new rotors, calipers and newer ebrake cables with upgraded pads and it won't always lock up when just driving. But when I'm using the ebrake to initiate or extend when drifting it will lock up everytime as long as I have some heat in the pads

This year I'm upgrading to project mu pads which should help with lock up and consistency ... Maybe you should look into better pads
