I'm pretty sure its because the sr20 uses coilpacks, and the KA uses a dizzy.

You can't use a SOHC Tach. Has to be a DOHC one.

 

its not a SOHC tach, its an aftermarket Autometer Sport Comp tach. Does anyone know what wire I should splice into then?

 

Did you wire up the dash plug correctly? It should be getting a signal if you did.

 

i actually spliced the wire in BEFORE the dash connector, straight from the ECU as I was wiring it up to go in the car.....i will double check everything though. until then, any other advice/opinions?

yep, like I said it was working fine before and i didnt really change anything this time around

 

What color wire you tapping for signal?

 

was a yellow with red stripe wire

 

just double checked, the tach wire IS on the yellow/red wire, pin 3 on the ECU. Later I will double check the connection at the tach...

 

the wire is good at the gauge, and is not broken for the entire length. I think I will have to call autometer and see if they can fix it....

 

Can you hook up a DMM and verify a Signal coming out?

 

yeah I can do that tomorrow with the DMM...I spoke to Autometer and they said I need some kind of signal converter to be able to use it with a "distributorless" ignition system hopefully I can get around it somehow!

 

I found some info on making an old tach (using a distributor) work with a new motor...think these schematics could work in my situation?

Scoot, i tested the output from the ECU like you said, and no voltage!! is it supposed to be a regular voltage output? How would I go about fixing this??
