well you are on a 240 forum so i would have to say 240.
although i have seen and driven a bad as turbo 2 7. i still would rather have a built sr20 for rouly the same price.

now.
what are you going to using the car for?
drift?
daily?
any mods?
common everyone is different.

RX-7 if you have the cash. Lighter, faster, than a 240 but more expensive. An SR20 swapped 240sx will cost you just as much after you get everything running right, and that's if you don't get a bum engine or blow it up tuning.
If your low on cash, get the 240 and decide if your going to keep the KA N/A or boosted.

I'd say 240 for sure. 3.3 could get you a nice S13 and have some left over for parts. You could proabably pick up an RX-7 in running condition (depending on what year and if your lucky) for 3.3, but your not gonna have any cash left over.

OP said " thinking a 1995 rx7 and a 1992 240sx i wanted to use them as daily drivers but might get in to drifting "

93-97 = Fd3s. but even 93's avg $6000-8000 with 100k miles.

before reading what his budget was, i was about to tell him to go FD. In japan, the Silvia itself is a budget sportscar to begin with, the FD was/is a fully-loaded sports car made to fly and rolled off the lines at an equivalent to 30 grand for base model...

fuck if you could find any fd for 6-8 k in decent condidtion show me and ill buy it tomorrow

fd's are usually 10-20k

a decent fd will normally go for aroun 15k

but if money is no problem and its between an s13 and an fd I would go fd all the way. I'm thinking about getting one myself =P

The problem with the rotary motor is that after about 30k miles the main gasket goes out and its the biggest pain to fix. If you take it to a shop to get it replaced they will tell you that its cheaper just to replace the motor. I'd go with the 240sx

no it doesn't, when left stock and properly maintained rotaries will last quite a bit without issues.....problem is people can't take care of them.... the 13b's will last forever if you warm them up and cool them down properly as well as running proper oil changing it every 2000-2500 miles routinely......i have access to an original non-rebuilt 13b that just hit 230K on the odo from 1987 still running strong...even 13b t's will last quite a while if you don't port them extensively or push crazy whp.....now the 13b-rew....that shit was unreliable....and if you improved turbo setup efficiency, cooling system, and the vacuum line setup (over 60)....then it will run just fine without issue

It must have been the 13b rew i read soooooo many terrible reviews on. I also had a mechanic friend who used to own his own shop and when he call the dealer to order a new gasket kit the dealer told him to put a new motor in

yeah the rew is "trash" in stock form....cooling issues out the ass...etc.... i'd take a 13bt over that anyday of the week if it came to buying and building a motor....but if i found an fd for cheap i'd pick it up in a heartbeat...you don't see them everywhere and to have a properly built one would be unique.....they love monster snails..
