I know you probably get this all the time...

But please stay with me. This question is to all the senior members here and possibly some knowledgeable newcomers. I am most likely getting a 240sx/se. Its a 1995 5 speed. I currently own a 1992 Subaru SVX AWD S/C. If you know what kind of car it is, it will help with your answers. I want to build up an N/A motor. The KA seems near limitless, and if I want to I could always go turbo. My question is what are some easy performance parts that will set down a good baseline to start building. I know the whole Intake/Headers/Exhaust deal first. Do you suggest e-bay brand? What kind of power should I expect. I am used to a supercharged 3.3 liter boxer six. I know it wont be as fast, but what are average hp outputs?
Thanks in advance,
Kosta

i would make my own short ram intake by relocating the battery and leading the intake to where the battery was....ebay can be good for exhaust...exhaust is exhaust

with simply things like this, you won't have an NA monster mayeb something like 170CHP....if you want an NA monster out of it, it'll cost you 10 grand for 280 horsepower, when with that money, you could have bought over 400 horsepower with a turbo setup. there is a 'get 200 crank NA horsepower for $1000' thread on club240.com, and possibly it traveled over here

Hell, for ten grand I'd put an LS1 or 6 in. Out of the box as much hp as a KA/SR-T, with far more potential. Not a big fan of the turbo, I like the smoother power delivery of NA...plus you get the V8 noise :yummy

lol @ratix na then sc...
well personally if i were to do anything inside the engine bay of my car i would throw an LS1 in there or 6 because its lighter and the power gain is the best. turbo? why ? sr? why ? sr is alright but NOS can do the same... well if youre really set on boosting... go to ka-t.org

i really dont knw what you can do with the KA in NA function

i guess thats all i chased in my gsr; hp and mods

now i drive the s13 daily and all i want is to go sideways and i get there easily... with the 140something 16 year old horses i got !

i actually have two na mods on my car... I have an ebay underdrive pulley and the previous owner cut the bottom of the stock airbox out so its like an inverted arc airbox from stock parts hahahhaha

Lol I said I was thinking about it. It peaked my interest as something I might want to do way down the road. But right know the NA build is what I want. All I need now is cams and some tuning and I reach my goal. I'm not trying to get big numbers right now, something aroung 170whp is fine for me.

Well, if he wants to go turbo he should start in a totally different direction than if he wants to go NA, or else he'll end up scrapping stuff when the time comes to blow the engine...at least for the basics that you'd be starting with, headers and such. I suppose you could recycle the filter, and injectors are a given either way...but it's better to decide where you're going before you start.

^^Does that apply to any engine besides the USDM KA? I'm not flaming, it's a perfectly legitimate reason to not like a swap, but consistency is nice..
