I used to get 375 to a tank. I took a road trip one time and made it 415 miles before I pulled over and got gas again(was running on fumes). That calculated out to be almost 32 mpg. The motor had about 185k miles on it, maybe it got such good mileage becuase the clearances had loosened up?

Now after I had some new bearings/rings/etc done to the motor I'm only getting about 330-350 miles per tank :crazyrant I'm going to change all the fluids in the driveline of my car and make sure the tires have enough air in them. Maybe I can get some of my fuel mileage back.

BTW it is a bone stock engine.

When my knock sensor was bad I was getting around 200 or so. Now I am getting about 360-370 on a tank.
Symptoms of a bad knock sensor? My car seems to surge a little bit throughout the rev range, I'm thinking it might be picking up false knock.

Quite possible. Mine was throwing the knock sensor code and putting my car in fail safe mode because of the timing chain hitting the guide. (it was very loud) Once I fixed that and reset the ecu everything was fine.

And for the guy that doesn't push the gas in more than 3/4 of the way. Sux that it doesn't make power there for you.

semi-hijack, re: knock sensor.

is it possible for that to go bad without throwing a code? I'm still trying to figure out wtf is causing my low-rpm surging when cold... driving me nuts. throwing no codes, all maintenence items replaced - filters, pcv, new plugs and wires, fuel system cleaner.

almost only does it when cold. even at idle, the revs will climb and drop between normal idle and like 1000-1500rpm. then when driving at that same range, it will slow down, surge ahead, back n forth.

never thought of the knock sensor...

I don't think the knock sensor will go or pick up knock without the ecu picking it up. I have changed so many things trying to get rid of my hesitation. I finally found out what it was...Clogged catalytic (sp) converter. I just took it off the other day and that thing was so dark black inside and couldn't see through it. I put a test pipe in it's place and now it doesn't hesitate at all. I didn't think that this would be the problem, but it sure did fix it.
