i get about 170-180 miles to a tank that realy does not seem right, what are you guys getting?
Symptoms of a bad knock sensor? My car seems to surge a little bit throughout the rev range, I'm thinking it might be picking up false knock.s13Hatch said:When my knock sensor was bad I was getting around 200 or so. Now I am getting about 360-370 on a tank.
Quite possible. Mine was throwing the knock sensor code and putting my car in fail safe mode because of the timing chain hitting the guide. (it was very loud) Once I fixed that and reset the ecu everything was fine.Fastzntn said:Symptoms of a bad knock sensor? I don't think the knock sensor will go or pick up knock without the ecu picking it up. I have changed so many things trying to get rid of my hesitation. I finally found out what it was...Clogged catalytic (sp) converter. I just took it off the other day and that thing was so dark black inside and couldn't see through it. I put a test pipe in it's place and now it doesn't hesitate at all. I didn't think that this would be the problem, but it sure did fix it.mentat said:semi-hijack, re: knock sensor.
is it possible for that to go bad without throwing a code? I'm still trying to figure out wtf is causing my low-rpm surging when cold... driving me nuts. throwing no codes, all maintenence items replaced - filters, pcv, new plugs and wires, fuel system cleaner.
almost only does it when cold. even at idle, the revs will climb and drop between normal idle and like 1000-1500rpm. then when driving at that same range, it will slow down, surge ahead, back n forth.
never thought of the knock sensor...
