is it just me or is there an explosion in people wanting to do a KA24 turbo?

did this like happen over night or something? i mean there are alot guys considering it now. i remember when there was only a few of us. but now i mean damn. well that is always a good thing. soon we can get more parts for our engine. and maybe the newer gen of people won't laugh at our KA-T's no more (insert: no more needing to beat their ass in race anymore )

i see a lot doing ka-t these days and a lot of ?s being asked about it. well i got a sohc and there is even a lot of sudden interest in that too. hope it makes parts a lot cheaper and easier to get. i see many kits coming out for the ka's and a lot aftermarket. its nice to see everyone is finally realizing that the ka can produce power and there is no need for the sr20.

yes, yes they are. The first time i saw and heard the mckinney 240 w/ RB26 it was heaven to my ears. if i only i could afford it! I actually like the sr20 just dont see the point of spending all the extra money to lower displacment and swap in a "JDM" tight engine. but a cheap CA18 might please me.

well this thought poped up beucsae i havne't went to the local 240 meet in a while and when i asked who still goes my friend says that there are like 60 people now and alot of them are young guys. and i'm like wow so they all must be into SR's but to my surprise they all want to turbo the KA. too bad my friend's KA is not a good example becuase he has a fucked up wastegate. so i guess next friday i gotta go there and check out the new scene.

I think the ever escalating SR20 prices are the reason. Used to be you could get into an SR20 for fairly cheap, so it made sense to go that route. Now, the engines are so expensive that it makes more sense to put together you own turbo kit.

Capitalism usually drives the trends; did you ever notice that?

yeah i would have to say that from what ive seen, its not really an increase in people interested in kat only-- its an increase in people who want 240's, which means more people wanting sr's, rb's, and sr's. the rising prices of sr's could have also caused the overflow into other areas like the kat... i know theres a lot of people doing rb swaps now too..

well, do you want 170rwhp for 3 grand or 220-250 for 3 grand? truck engines own me

yeah for the cost of sr20 swap I figured I could turbo my motor while building the second block to handle more boost. SR20 is just too expensive
dood you stole my plan. im turboing the first engine, and building up a second block from scratch. good job ;)

I think it's cool if people want the KA turbo more than an SR. SR is over-rated like it's some magical engine that will solve all of your problems. I don't think there is one introduction post to where someone wants a 240SX (or just bought one) and doesn't mention the SR! :gaylaugh It's just another motor. But with that being said, with some time and money it can be as nice as any other motor.

KA-T is just seeming more appealing these days. SR prices are going up all the time. Seems like by the time you could afford to buy one the price would be higher and youd have to keep saving. KA-T at 1st seemed like too much custom work, but now that so many people have done it, it looks a lot easier. When you look at the price, an SR project will cost you 5 grand, a KA-T kit costs 3,500 (greddy) add fuel pump, boost guage and other supporting mods and its only around 4 grand for the professional setup. And if you dont have enough to do that custom setups are beeing done for around 1 grand. Lets see someone do a SR project for 1 grand...wont happen.
