That helps becuase the fan is powered by the engine. by removing the fan you are removing a load from the engine. this helps by freeing up some lost horsepower. If you live somewhere that gets hot or if you dirve in a lot of traffic then i would put an electric fan just to be sure that your engine dose not over heat. Here is a website that you can buy a fan at.

Specking of raditor fans, How come the 89-90 s13 have elctric fan, and clutch fan, Yet the 91-94 dont. Does the 89-90 have over heating problems are somthing.
wtf are you talking about? the SOHC use a "push" style fan(in front of the radiator) whereas the DOHC use a "pull" style fan, behind the radiator. And both use a mech clutch fan

on another note to help your car from over heating you can use water wetter or purple ice for your coolant. Also on your hood you can put washers in the back where your hood is screwed on to so that when you close it the hood is cracked in the back and on the sides as well. dont worry its nothing noticeable. I use about 2 washers on each side. This helps by letting hot air out. I learned this from some domestics here in Houston.

I've seen the stock cooling system work for over 300hp. Don't take the recommendations of the people trying to sell you the fan.

BTW the SOHC has a clutch "puller" fan as well. Lol, how could one mount a "pusher" fan in front of the radiator if the crank has to turn it? I think you're thinking of the AC condenser fan.

Too expensive for what you get. Look at the Summit brand adjustable electric fans on the same site, the one's with no shroud. The big one pushes 2300cfm and is only like $70. I've got the 16" rigged to the stock shroud, with the stock radiator. Runnin' 260whp with no overheating whatsoever.

Woah - removing the clutch fan to free-up HP? You DEFINATELY have to install another fan to pull cold air through the radiator...I can't even imagine the kind of overheating you would get without any fan at all...

To remove, all you need is a 10mm open wrench. And, umm. maybe a screwdriver or two in order to remove the fan shroud and various other plastic pieces. Nothing mysterious, just look, and you'll see what has to be removed. There are 4 10mm bolts securing the fan clutch (the center of the fan). Remove all 4, and sometimes, you need to jiggle the fan a bit to get it to come off. Pull it up and you're done. Once your engine starts to overheat, reverse the procedure to install.

The electric fan will push more air to the radiator..you just have to rig it up to be on all the time or move somewhere cold.

a fan(electric in our case here) that is placed in FRONT of a radiator and PUSHES air through it into the engine bay is called a "Push" style fan.

Another fan(be it electric or mech. in THIS case) that is placed BEHIND the radiator and "pulls" air through the radiator is called a "pull" style fan

let me continue by calling you a tool. Now what about my Quote above and THIS post don't you understand?

note: not the same size, the shroud needs to be trimmed a little for them to fit. and u have to rig em up, i used zipties.
ok thanks for the info. I am going to be doing this soon. What exactly needs to be trimmed? its so far off you had to use zip ties? Someone needed a ka24e stanza radiator a while back and i picked one up at the local yard. I noticed it was identical to my ka24e 240sx radiator. I just assumed the shroud would work
