Aight I'm still new to boosting, but I think I know enough to start a project. I wanna boost my KA, it's in great condition and I'm only gonna go about 6-9 PSI on stock internals...so this is what I got so far... NOTHING SPECIAL....YET. haha

T28 or Gt28 ...still comparing so HELP PLEASE=]
JGS turbo mani
> or custom
JGS downpipe

AdvanceJDM small intercooler kit
HKS BOV
370 CC SR injectors
walbro fuel pump

either a pretuned turbo ECU from jimwolf or play with stock one and most likely greddy Emanage basic unit

I'm still new to this so any advice or recommendations will be great.
I have a friend that's gonna help me. he know's a few about boostin

Sounds good man!

I believe the difference on the t28 to the gt28 is that the GT is ball bearing and water cooled, where as the t28 is standard journal bearings (I think, can't remember) and oil cooled. Also the price difference is fair too.

I will update with everyl mod I do =]

yah I was just reading on the ball bearings and cooling, but I still wanna know what everyones or anyones opinion on which 28 is better for the long run.

I might just get a used S14 SR turbo and play around with it but I only have one KA and I'm in Germany and finding another KADE here is pretty much impossible.

It pretty much comes down to $$$$, the GT is an awesome turbo, haven't heard a bad thing yet on the ball bearing setup. You just got to make sure you plumb in lines for the coolant. I have also heard that the ball bearing allows them to last longer and spool better. Although I don't know if you can feel the difference.

Oh yah $$$$$$$$ is a biggy, that's why I'm doing it after my vocation and I have a few paychecks saved up just for this project.=]

I've been seeing some vids with Gt28's doing really good on KA's..... but then again the GT28 goes out faster because of the bearings. I think the t28 has a longer life span.

anyone have pretuned jimwolf ECU's?

I may be wrong, but I thought the SR t-28s where oil and water cooled aswell??
Ball bearing turbos are a better turbo all around.

It may be better since this is a simple set up to go with a bottom mount mani, T25 or T28 (for your boost goals a T25 would work fine) then get an Ebay SR elbow and down pipe, should bolt right up no prob.

Your right on track with the SR injectors and walboro pump.

Your also going to need an oil feed and return kit...JGS.

Also for the amount of boost your going to run, no need to ditch the internal gate.

There are better choices I believe for pretuned ECMS other then JWT. Such as EFI specialists, also heard good things about Enthalpy however their tunes are for max power and arent always safe. JWT leans more on the safer side which in turns makes the car run on the rich side. Either way you go, having a SAFC or similar device to fine tune is a good idea.

you could aslo go Calum RT.

Theres a plethora of info over at KA-T.org and probably a few guys running a similar set up to what you want. Which will let you know the pros and cons they have come across.

The gt28 watercooled and oil cooled should last you just as long as any journal bearing turbo if taken care of and not beaten on. With you goals you should be fine with either turbo, but the gt28 has alot more potential for later (which is needed because boost is addicting).

As for you tuning question, On a stock N/A motor car the most important thing with a turbo upgrade is a good tune. You may run fine at such low power with some pre-tuned ecu, but if you ever decided to upgrade you would have to buy a whole new ecu and it wouldn't even be for YOUR car.

My opinion on your setup: As for you goals you stated above the gt28 isn't nessescary. I would hold out on the gt28 and get the t28. Use the money you saved from this downgrade to get a worthy engine management. By doing this you will have the option of adding a bigger turbo later for more power without have to get a new engine management system. (Apexi Power FC, AEM, Haltech)

Adding boost to a car that has no idea what boost is can be a dangerous task... Don't skimp out on ecu because that how stuff goes POP.

Forgot a few things. Sorry for double posting.

For fuel the walbro will be just fine, but the injectors I might get something a little bigger. Not only will it open more oppurtunity for power, but its one less thing you will have to upgrade down the road. I'm not sure what your plans are for the car, but having too large injectors won't hurt with the correct tune.

Priorities in my mind:
1. Engine Management
2. Fuel Upgrades
3. Turbo

Thanks for all the great information... I was waiting for someone to give me step by step instructions on boosting. haha.so engine management first, so which would be better and easier management for a booster noob?.... and as for fuel. 250lb walbro pump and 550cc injectors. sound good?... after all this then start with a t28 setup and upgrade as I get more addictied right?!? haha

plans for the car, are daily driver and also track racing/drifting. looking for between 230-300hp. I upgraded to a full 3in cat back system so it sounds nice...... I should post pics haha
