Short story, me and a friend were tearing apart kis SOHC to swap in a DOHC but he changed his mind. So we installed a new headgasket and cleaned everything up, the only problem is I'm not sure where to put the oil pump and distributor in relation to the crank gear when it's at TDC because we didnt make any marks considering we weren't going to put the motor back together in the first place.

Make sure to also line up at TDC on the compression stroke. If its not on the compression stroke it wont work right, probably not at all.

With it at number one, let it warm up and then set timing. You might need to play with teh dizzy one tooth one way or the other to egt it just right.

Good luck.

ligning the dis to the oil pump is a pain in the ass on the SOHC. it took me about 3 hrs the second time i did it. i even marked every thing but it seamed that every time i lined every thing up i was a tooth off on the crank gear.

you cant move the dizzy one tooth either way. It will only go in one way. The shaft on the dizzy is half a circle. To move the dizzy one tooth you must take out the oil pump the move it on tooth on the crank gear. I get to have fun and try to replace my pump this weekend.

I hope i dont screw any thing up.
