Im gonna boost my ka24e. It has 156k miles will all stock componets. The compression test came back with 150 across the board. The engine is really loud untill the oil gets flowing. I pulled the valve cover and about 1/3 of the rocker arms have some play. I check the Tq on all the bolts and they were all tight so im just gonna get some new rockers.

For my setup im gonna be using a T04E 35 trim .50 a/r on the compressor and .72 a/r on the turbine. Im making a manifold from "high pressure gas line" pipe. I have a 17x11x3.5 FMIC with custom 2.5in piping. The BOV is gonna be between the throttle body and the FMIC. The AFM is gonne be 12in from the turbo inlet. I have braided ss lines for the oil, the source is gonna come from the oil pressure port next to the oil filter and the return goes back to the oil pan.

For the fuel im using 720cc high impedance top feed injectors, z32 maf, z32 fuel pump, z32 fuel filter. To tune it i flashed the ecu to use the 720cc injectors and z32 maf and get a good base map. I can redo it to fine tune it later.

Im only gonna be going 6psi at first but my target is about 20 or so. my question is am i forgetting anything and what do you think of my setup?

Im really looking for responses from people that have already done this.
Thank you for your time.

20 psi will most likely break something in a stock motor with 156k on it...and 720cc injectors are pretty damn big...i ran 550cc injectors up to 17psi and had no problems...i would suggest using a smaller injector unless you plan on making 450whp+...the main thing is tuning...make sure you tune it before you go smashing on the throttle...good luck

yes i wanna go 20psi or higher, but that will be after i get better pistons
as for the 720 injectors, the little formula i worked out said 683cc at 79% duty cycle so i went with 720 just to be safe

3rd gear, what hp you running?

well the formula i used says thats the size i need

HP x BSFC = Total Fuel Req
350 x 0.6 (0.5 for NA, 0.6 for FI) = 210 lb-hr

TFR / # cyl = Uncorrected Injector
210 / 4 = 52.5 lb-hr

60000 ms / max rpm = Available Injector time
60000 ms / 6500 = 9.23 ms

Injector recovery time = 2 ms

Max Duty Cycle = (AIT - IRT) / AIT
(9.23 - 2)/9.23 = 78.33%

Corrected Injector size = Uncorrected Injector Size / MDC
67.02 lb-hr = 52.5 lb-hr / 78.33%

lb-hr * 10.2 = ccm
67.02 lb-hr *10.2 = 683.617 ccm

since i dont think they have 683ccm injector i went with the 720 for added insurance

If you have any other input or if i made a mistake let me know

im still trying to learn all there is to turbo setups and all that shit.
i have a 92 with 168k on it. if i wanna slap a turbo running 8-10 psi should i do a rebuid with foreged pistonsl? im trying to get around 275-350 hp, is iy necessary for that kind of power, or should i jsut do a rebuild later on?

help a brotha out

well.. you're talking about a different motor than the post was originally about.. however, at those power levels, I always like to play it safe.. if you can afford to build the motor for boost, do it.. if you can't, keep the boost very low.. in either case, I wouldn't trust a 168k mile motor to hold up to 8-10psi for a very long time.. I'd say, if you're on a budget, turbo probably isn't the way to go.. but, if you've got a decent bit of cash to spend, build the motor, then go turbo.. or, at the very least, rebuild it with stock parts, and put a metal head gasket on.. I think Cometic has a few different thicknesses.. so, the thicker the better in that case, to keep compression lower.. but, I believe 350 is attainable on a stock twin cam.. for how long though, is the question..

you can only have 2!

The stock rods can take a little beating but, there is a limit..about 25psi on a T70 is it. Here is his setup and vids:

"this is my 89 coupe . ka24e stock rods ,arias 8.8's 'cometic mls 'arp head studs and a t70. 25psi and slicks on the street.
ka24et lanch
ka24et 2nd&3rd
ka24e blown to smitherines
running the whole time
the rod snapped off at 6200rpms in 4th gear"

I plan on running 14 psi on my stock block E this up coming season on E85
