*SIGH*
Well I didnt want to have to ask such a simple question that probably has a simple answer, but I cant get the damn gear off the crank the timing belt rides on. I searched high and low with no results. I dont know, maybe Im wording it wrong. I even looked on the FSM I found on NICO, but for some reason it wont let me DL the whole file.

I tried to fit a 2 arm gear puller on there with no luck, the bottom sheild is in the way. The only thing I can think of is using heat, but I dont want to try that till I ask you guys.

This is a question concerning an RB20

Thanks guys

If you know some one that works for Nissan then the VG30/CA18 puller works. The other two main extraction methods are. Drill and tap the pulley on the sides in two spots then use a puller to pull it off. The second is to drill one section of the pulley mutiple times then crack it in half. You can also use the heat, but you have to be careful not to heat the metal too much...

Well no wonder it was a PITA to get off. It was fused together with surface rust, lol.

I did your second idea and it worked perfect!! :thumbsup

As for the oil pump, do I really have to change it? I took it apart and another board member and I think that it looks perfectly fine. Actually the same goes with the water pump aswell.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the help...

ya when you replace that gear make sure you polish where it goes and then use anti seaze on that shit so you dont have to worry about it when you want it to come off again. Thats a pretty common thing, i see it all the time on the race motors i build at work, either the guys that own the motor replace it b4 we get it back for a rebuild and dont put antiseaze or somebody in the shop doesnt put enough antiseaze on it, dirttracks are hard on cars....

The dreaded cambelt gear! oh god how I hated getting this thing off. Heat didn't work for me, and when I tried to make new holes in the front, my tap broke in one of the holes!! So I had to crack mine in half, and got a new one from Rob at RIPS in NZ, got it shipped to me for $80! It was such a pretty sight...
