Yo yo guys name's Josh. I got a 1992 honda prelude si. Now I'm thinkin of getting a 240sx but I dont know what to look for or what kind to get. I see theres two different types of 240sx. I'd like a change of cars.

My lude was my fist. I've had it for like 6 months. I've made here into what she is. She got some good rims' a CAI, some good 9.5 spark wires and some ngk. I kinda want to keep here but I want rear wheel drive. Getting tired of going strait all the time...

Anyway I just joined like 5min and I'm lookin for info. I think I'm gona look around this site and see what upgrades are out there.

Thanks guys.

You're biggest help is going to be the Beginner's Forum, where you made this thread. There's a bunch of stickied threads, including one that's called Total Newb Guide or something similar. That one explains everything about every 240, down to the trim and specifications. Check that one out to see which one sparks your interest the most.

Afterward you can check the engine swap thread to read more on the different engine swap projects that are a bit more mainstream, but still allow for your own unique touch.

When you finish researching both those things you can use the search function to find out more about people who have the engine you're looking at, and even the car. It's probably going to be the best thing you can do considering the hundreds of thousands of threads in the forum, if not more, already talking about 240-related things.

Good luck finding what you're looking for.

ya from 89 to 94 there are 2 different types of 240sx. the fastback and the coupe.

the fastback is just a hatchback like most popular sports cars were in the late 80s and early 90s. the coupe is a mangled version of the 89-94 silvia in japan. we didn't get the silvia front. instead they just cut off the fastback's front and stuck it onto the silvia's back and ruined the flow of the car completely. it looks like an 89 prelude or more accurately a slice of cheese.

if you choose to get the coupe, what most people do is "correct" this bad design and buy a silvia front end to install onto it. depending on where you live, the cops might hassle you a bit if you do it because your headlights will be shinning into everyones face (since japanese headlight beams point to the left instead of the right like American cars)

from 95 - 96 there is no fastback anymore. but they gave us the coupe. the first S14 (zenki). and finally the body taken purely from the actual Silvia, except for a few minor differences like the trunk lid (american models have a light at the top of the trunk, japan has no light but a "Silvia" emblem instead) and the "royal cards" trim options (japan had J's Q's and K's) while america had Base, SE, and LE.

97-98 again, just a coupe and again mostly identical to the silvia. still the S14 (kouki) but now it has a new front end and rear lights + designed interior. again it comes in base, SE, and LE.

the zenki's "Silvia" emblem was silver/chrome in color and it was dead center of the trunk lid and the lid had no red light above its reverse lights. the kouki's "Silvia" emblem was black and alot smaller than the zenki's. it went on the left side of the trunk lid directly above the left reverse light and it came with a stop light in the middle (like both american models do)
