I raced my friends b16a2 honda civic he has the most ricer honda i have ever seen, his exhaust is so loud it scared me when we took off LMAO. He has straight pipes and header and a intake plus the motor.
What kind of upgrades would I need to be waving good by to him. :thumbsup
I just want enough to beat him so he will shut his mouth!!!!
I do not want to spend alot of money into the motor yet becuase i enjoy platform and handling much more( drifting).

Or am i screwed till i get a turbo? All I have is a air intake. everything else is stock.

For the Ka try Headers Exhaust Advance The timing a hair run 91 so no Knocking see where Your at from there yeah a Turbo is nice but its not Cheap and theres alot more to it than just slaping on a turbo oh yeah and also after all those mod's try a re tune on ur Ecu and next time u racem hopefully on a Legal track dont Use the Stock Tires try to find something a little better

god i don't want to flame, i really don't

so i'm going to say this as nicely as i can

if your 2.4L DOHC [or even SOHC] RWD hatch [i'm assuming the hatch part] can't beat a 1.6L DOHC FWD hatch [i'm assuming the hatch again]

it's not the car, it's the driver

this should be an EASY win, B16's are slow [unless highly HIGHLY modified]

maybe his ka is running like shit like 90% of all ka's on the road
mine is not slow at all, but then again i have been working on mine for a long time

Hell the b16a2 has 160 chp in stock trim. Add an I/H/E and your looking at 170ish. And on top of that FWD's have less drivetrain loss than a RWD car.
You just need some more power and you should walk right by him.

Yeah perhaps it is my fault (driver) I never really raced before not that its rocket science but it was a little different then drifting.
but I guess when it comes down to it, even if it was a good driver, is his car just going to be faster then mine? I mean even though its a 1.6 its not like they put that motor in there to be slow, it obviously is fast or they wouldnt do the swap.
Then again i did spin all of first and some of second. Is there a trick to get the car to launch without it spinning so much?
AGAIN I DRIFT MY GOAL IS FOR THE TIRES TO SPIN SO FORGIVE ME!!! lol

Most honda motors make shit for torque (most, not all of them) but they make up for that with high revolutions and higher peak HP. Since the KA puts down around 156 ft.lbs at the crank you should be able to get a huge head start seeing how the honda only has 111 ft.lbs of torque. But, the honda will walk by you around mid track because it takes advantage of gearing, higher revolutions, and higher HP numbers.
If you car is set for drifting then your not going to be winning any races against a car that was set up to drag.

there is a trick to launching the car. well not so much a trick but it is all about working the clutch and gas together. you cant just rev up, pop the clutch and then floor it. there is a sweet spot i guess you would call it you rev it to, to launch. i have a na ka and i usually hold the rpms bout 3500 or 4000 and come off the cluth as applying throttle. you dont want it to spin you want traction all the way. i raced a na 300zx in the rain and just by playing the gas and clutch i maintained traction and pulled away. he never could find traction so he lost and isnt a good driver in those conditions.

Honda's have really good flowing heads and short gears, as previously mentioned. It's hard to beat honda's with out putting some money in. Don't get me wrong tho there are 1000hp KA's out there running 7's all day, but like I said it takes money. So if you want to shit on you're friend you're gonna have to dig deep into your pockets.

P.S. Do us and yourself a favor. Don't hang out with ricers that's 16 year old stuff.

man i hate hondas, they are too easy to make power when you have a swap. i have a friend with an eg hatch (1900 lbs) and he swapped in a gsr 1.8 vtech motor. this thing smokes vipers, but it does have a huge t3/t4 super 60 turbo running a daily 8psi on it and tuned quite well. i was amazed at the power delivery, but i still hate honda's cuz he couldnt get traction after 4000rpm in first gear.

I used to drive a 98 civic dx back in the day (5 months ago). it accelerated pretty damn quick and had decent handling but I could never keep up with a 240 not even a SOHC. I hate to flame but you might want to start boning up on your driving technique or switch to a manual if you don't already have 1

I don't know man, my stock (rebuilt) SOHC has beaten a lot of cars it really shouldn't have. With just basic stuff really. Timing bump (20*) and an intake.
It's no speed demon by any means, but the KA's are pretty quick.
Another trick to launching and gaining a quick lead, is use the hell out of first gear. Mine doesn't have a rev limiter (to lazy to find out why, lol) and I take 1st to 7k and on the 1st, 2nd shift you land just behind the peak hp at about 4,900rpm.

I've seen lots of civic with B16's run the 1/4mile in the 14's. It would take a lot of work to make a stock 240 run that without a turbo
I had a 93 maxima SE 5spd before I had bought my s14. While the 240 felt fast it certainly died in the top end while my maxima would just keep pulling. It's that low end grunt the KA has that makes the 240 feel fast but in the top end- where it matters- it just drops on its face.

Which leads me to say it's more of a "Quick" car rather than a "Fast" car...

And tocoolat, we said nothing about your skillz, you just failed to mention, you have shitty tires, it's not we think your skills suck, it's just a known fact that a 40 will take if from a dig.. but like you said, you have shitty tires, therefore, you did not..

+1 to the holding 1st gear ka24e, I've noticed when I try to shift at peak in first rather then hold it a little longer, some ppl tend to pull, but when I hold, I either keep even or pull...
+ chirpping 235's w/ I/H/E in 2nd and occasionally 3rd, it's just lovely :)

even burning tires in first gear the rev limiter isnt so harsh, i just launch at around 3k, hold it until i hit the limiter once and then shift. its fast enough for me, but i dont drag so who gives a shit

#25 ·
I know you guys dont think my skills suck, and thanks. But i guess that little ricer is going to be faster then me untill i boost the KA, wich sucks, my kouki is so clean and nice his honda is 4 different colors and sounds like... uh well it sounds like a honda with straight pipes would sound, VERY ANNOYING. But i guess when it all comes down to it a girl much rather get in my car then his!!!!!

You have went to 8, stock? Keep doing that and see where some of your internal engine parts end up. I mean I may take mine to 7 rarely but never past that. I don't know where it is on the DE's but I know the limiter on my E kicks in about 6400 usually.
