Hey Im not gonna do a whole write up step by step on a s13 tranny swap on here cuz like a billion people already have, and theyve done a good job, but just gone nuts with wiring complexity. I literally just got done my 16th tranny swap, so i know what im talking about. follow the other guy's directions about doing all the mechanical stuff, its pretty straightforward. But let me handle the wiring part.

You can throw away your manual tranny harness, wont be needing it. All you need is to keep your speed sensor (round thing all the way at the back held in by one 10mm bolt, and four wires from your auto trans harness (you will find these wires on the large swich held in by three 10mm bolts, its directly connected to the automatic shift linkage.) Go ahead and cut all the wires off and be sure to insulate all of the ones your not going to use.

TO GET THE ENGINE TO START

At the wiring harness from the big switch thingy at the auto's shift linkage, connect the only two fat wires (usually one black, one brown), Voila! Engine starts, no relay's, no crap with the fuse box.

TO GET REVERSE LIGHTS

Also at the big switch wiring harness, you will see a thin light green wire and a dark brown/blackish wire. On your new manual trans the sensor the closest to where the clutch goes is your reverse switch, usually two black wires. connect the green wire to one of the black wires, and the blackish wire to the other, doesnt matter which one. Voila! Reverse lights!

TO GET SPEEDOMETER

Plug it in just like the old one

TO GET YOUR KEY OUT

You usually dont have to do anything after youve unplugged the auto shifter, s13's are simple, NOW GO BANG SOME GEARS!

Feel free to ask any questions you like!

Near the fuse box, there will be a 2 wire clip.
They will be a lower gauge wire (thicker)
Spice the 2 togetter

TO GET YOUR KEY OUT
Alot of times it isn’t that simple
You will have to remove the steering Colum cover (behind steering wheel)
And unclip the Key lock
It will be near the ignition

Or just be a more alert driver from the turn of the key lol. If I leave mine in gear, which is very rare, I put something on the shifter so I see it. Usually a driving glove. Or just get in the habbit of wiggling your shifter before you turn the key.

CSS is just another potential point of failure in the system.
