I am a total drift fan and cant wait to start myself. as of a few weeks ago i wanted to get an s14 but my friend was getting a new sr20 in his 89 s13. i went to the shop where hes getting it done. the guys at the shop told me that the s13 is by far a better drifting car and much funner. i already have a car to get around and im looking for strictly a drifting car and the best for my money (about $4000). so i want to ask all u guys and gals out there what is better for drifting. i tried to do my own research but get mixed responses. so please help me. S13 OR S14??????????

s14 is far stiffer and overall stock is STIFFER then s13
takes much more work to get s13 to s14 stiffness

s14 is well know to be the 'best' drift car in japan..

i know keiichi tsyuchiya recommends s14 highly.

kouki is stiffer then zenki hear, but that's just how part of chassis is designed..in the US that is..not sure how true that is

society_mike in japan (on freshalloy) got a s14 to replace his s13....and he said the s14 basically STOCK chassis rigity (coilovers, stb and that's about it) was STIFFER then his s13 with rollcage and full build 100% pillowball and such all over...

that's something to consider..

and mike drifts SOOOOOO MUCH (hes in tokyo area)

same thing
zenki s14 IS stiffer
how do i know? ive drifted both. my friend has a96 s14. its MUCH stiffer. i like it but its also much heavier.
the s13 is nimble

i use s13 cuz i dont want to plow a kouki s14 decked out into a wall or anything. i can get another s13 for 2k and swap everything over

a s14 would run 5K + and a kouki s14...wow....8k or more easily!

s13-cheap and easy

s14 more money but stiffer

depends on your budget and needs.

I have a stock s14 w/stock lsd and a s13 with sr20det, tein suspenion, nismo 2way lsd, etc. and my s13 is a lot easier to drift and a lot more fun to drive because of the extra power and my suspenion is so stiff. The s14 seems to be bigger and harder to control in my opinion but my s13 is also a lot different than a stock s13 and if you would build a s14 the way I built my s13 I dont think there would be a differece I just like the s13 because it seems smaller and easier to throw around.

s13 have a more balanced layout I heard, so it makes it better, but I would go wit the s14, first its newer, and plus its nicer, but if you say for drift only, go with the s13, and if you get a coupe, do a s13 front end conversion, if you get a hatch, call it a 180sx, I'd rather call it the 180, but oh well. the s13 is a much lighter car, if you swap in a SR its beast, it you swap in a RB that thing is like god!!!! Glad help this JR. out :rotflmao j/k man have fun, and drift safe :thumbsup

it all depends on how much money you want to throw down and how much you make so you can put money into your car once u get it...
if your lucky u can find a s14 for less than 4000 mine is probally worth bout 4000 but i got lucky and got it off a friend for only 2000...a s13 sr20 is a lot cheaper to buy than a s14 but i hear a lot of people like working with it better than the a s14 anyways... but i don't have to much experience with that but my s14 with open diff is pretty fun and some what easy to drift....it's stock too

He had a 4 point (I dunno what brand) He took it out and traded it for something (I dunno that either). He is gittin a 6 point from a friend (I dunno what kind for that either....guess he and I just don't communicate like we used to) :)

There is also a bar you can bolt down to the seat belt bolts that helps stiffen things up a bit.

A lot of the Japanese drifters take out the seats and weld all kind of bars across the back to stiffen things up.
