I wasn't exactly sure where to post this so i did so here(that being said yes i am new here so point me in the right direction) but the purpose of this thread was that i been interested in getting sponsored by....lets see...anybody possible? If anybody who reads this is or has been sponsored before i just really want to know what exactly were your obligations? for example how many races and events did you have to attend to? what did you have to do to get sponsored? what are things that would make you lose your sponsorship and etc. just basically any brief overview of a sponsored drivers obligations would be good and i would appreciate the feedback thanks and again yes i am new and I am not sure i was suppose to post this here so again point me in the right direction for threads like this :feedback:

Those are things you'll have to ask the company sponsering you. They all have different requirements. I could have gotten one from.a local shop here. All they required was being able to do 3rd gear entries and rocking there stickers. But decided to be self sponsored. Smart choice? Idunno. But that's what I chose so....

Yeah. Pretty much. You gatta meet there expectations.
What you and the car can do will determine what the shop decides to sponsor you for.

Mine would have been for tires at cost with free mount and balance.

Whatever you do, don't go to the a website like carsponsorships.com, or whatever it is. It's a crock. Getting sponsored usually requires some legwork.

now that we are on the subject, and its been kinda on my mind for a wile.

why doesnt this forum have a driving "team" (loosely defined)

Sleepy is a drifter now too, lol

When this job thing gets sorted out, I might make us some decals. ;)

Back on topic: you need to not only be good, but ask yourself what's in it for them? Nothing is free anymore, you need to be enticing for them. Unless you're a local celebrity on the track, like MD's Rapper Dan Savage, you're not going to get much unless you do some serious driving and sweettalking.

The more common thing thesedays is what I do: Run their decals, give them repeated business and referrals, and then maybe get some help and hookups. Ex: Zerolift, bought my SR and some other stuff from Robert, talk to him weekly just to shoot the shit, send him business every chance I get, and who was helping me on the phone with an on-track problem on a weekend? Robert.

Same with JE. I run their banners, I help spread info about them, and I got the same track help and the occasional discount.

I don't run a full quarter window of decals for nothing lol.

Gotta start small.

I'm interested, but I don't professionally race my s13, however, I do track day it up here in MN, and there's always people here that watch and shoot vids for YouTube. I could just get my own graphic made up here if someone wants to come up with a quip for this forum, ya know, if it's tasteful and okay with this forum entity. I honestly don't review all those rules we all read thru so I don't remember if they'd even allow it. I'm not looking for any freebies, but if nothing else it would be some free advertising for it. Then we could recognize each other outside of the forum if you happen across the vid, and say, "hey, he's got the sticker!" Just a thought.

how about this.

design a separate forum sticker for the people that have represented there kills and only people that have shown performance on the TRACK can rock one.

Let me just say these "Forum Issued" legit ones are gonna be on the high side due to the fact the 3M stuff it top quality high dollar stuff.

I can say that I'll post it up for others to make there own. Its like coping a teams sticker and slapping it on yourself and saying yeah I'm part of them....

I'm sure you're right, but the only way that won't happen is if we don't do anything. So......do we charge ahead realizing that might happen? Would there be any serious repercussions if it did? Would it even matter? I'm only asking cause I don't know. Even Redline oil claims driver's might have a different oil sponsor on the car, but it's redline oil in the engine.

you could do what you did with the for sale section? Make it to were only "Forum issued" members are allowed to even get it let alone see it.....i mean i know people will still try and copy it but how accurate could they get it unless they literally went to the side of someone's car and traced it?

Of assemblying a team yeah. But I'm talking with our sponsor about having these made.
They will be of a CF vinyl haven't decided which yet, and that will be the only way to know its legit from the forum. I may even go as far as asking them not to reproduce them in the CF unless its from me or another admin or mod. That way its not possible to replicate it.

I have not decided how I'm going to do that yet. If anything anyone that PM's me that has been registered and some what active for a decent amount of time on here can have one. Don't really think noobs should be able to have one right off the bat.
