Well my belt squeaks like hell until i spray silicone spray on the belt then it goes away then i will start to drive it again and it will start up again. Its either the belt or the pulley bearing???I think. Any help???? Thanks

yea, check the tension of your belt....if its loose then tighten it. and a good rule to go by for it being old is...if it has more than 12 cracks in an inch span replace it....if your running a heavily upgraded motor then I would say about 8-10 cracks to be on the safe side.
Peace,
Bobby

your belt is probably loose....seems to happen often on sr's... my belt use to squeel every now and then....the bolt on the adjuster (located on the alt. bracket) was messed up or somethin....make sure u fix it...ur water pump is powered by this belt...if its not spinnin' right then ur motor is gona get hot and go kaboooom! Check to make sure the belt is still good like everyone else is sayin too.

What motor do u have?

I had this squeeky noise and solved it by making sure the pulleys are in line. Get a straight edge and put it up againts one of the pulleys. Make the other end of the straight edge reach the other pulley to let you know if they are in line with each other. Mine were slightly off. I added some washers on the alternator pulley to get it lined up. Use lock washers. Let us know if this solves your problem.

That is exactly what i was thinking, because on a diff car of mine i had that same problem, but it was so bad it would actually run fine with one rib off of the pulley without squeaking so i figured it was off a little bit so i did what you said and i didnt have any more probles with it the whole time i owned it

if you are spraying the belts, you are not keeping them from slipping you are allowing them to slip easier, but not make a noise. silicone is a lube, why would you want to do that?
