That's right u read the title right...my plans are to put an sr20det into my Geo Tracker lol. A Geo Tracker is rwd! I have some questions. Which sr is the best for HIGH hp applications, s13, s14, or s15. Will the s15 6speed tranny hold high hp, and how much of an rpm diff does it make on the highway? I want to know if i could run the engine totally off an AEM EMS, or some other form of standalone unit? By doing this would it allow me to use all the functions of the car...mainly the lights, blinkers, etc? I am aware that i would have to buy all new gauges to make the gauge cluster work, and i already have all the drivetrain issues worked out. ANY imput towards this topic would be greatly appreciated........Oh and i know the question is gonna come up, Why not just buy a 240?? Well the Geo Tracker weighs about 2200 lbs with me in it...not to mention I want something that noone else has.

ok, so i'm guessin you have about US$15k to spare? well then, first off, you'll have find some way of makin the motor sit in the engine bay. then, you need to find a way to have the transmission fit. then you'll have to pay someone to make you a custom driveshaft. then you'll have to do all the wiring. then you'll have to do alot of suspension work just so that the car doesnt flip when you corner hard (geos in general are prone to flippage :p). then *shrug* there's just toooooo many variables. i mean i know you said you have the drivetrain worked out... but seriously, do you? it can be done, but it's not going to be cheap. and are you willing to blow all that money just to be "different"?

Well the Tracker comes with a fullsize chevy rear end....stock...it has 5.25 gears, but imma have them changed with 3.73's. Oh and as for suspension, i already have eibach springs and tokico shocks, it won't flip, i already put it through the paces. I know i have to custom a driveshaft, but already got that one covered. It has a full frame stock...thats right a frame...so all i gotta do is weld the stock motor mounts to it.

the wireing is gonna be the hard part. If you think you can cross reference the tracker to the 240 to make that work. then go for it. remember, a front engine clip from japan has diferent wireing than a us 240 with a KA.
And the rest is easy. They have been doing it with american engines for decades. V8's are alot less wire though ;)

That is definately gonna be the hardest part of the whole build...that's y i was wondering if i could run the motor on AEM EMS. Would it still have to be integrated into the tracker wiring harness? If my understanding is correct, i should be able to run the motor entirely off of AEM EMS, but my question is would i have to connect the current Geo ecu to the sr20 ecu??

An AEM isn't your only option; there are several aftermarket ECU's capable of controlling the SR20DET. I know of a few people running this engine - ignition controls and all - using a Megasquirt. Most aftermarket ECU's do not particularly care which OBD version you have, and you don't need to use any of the Tracker wiring harness for it except for the gauges. The gauges might be an issue, but the worst case is that you'll just use aftermarket ones. There are probably a couple other stand-alones besides AEM and Megasquirt that can control an SR20DET. I'm pretty sure, for example, that an Electromotive ECU will work.

ok..
engine...
use the s13 engine, variable valve timing isnt good for high hp because it will be taken out anyways...its easy to build all of them but more parts for the 13 model sr20det, you can pull 350-400hp for about 2k(injectors, maf, tune, turbo, fmic, exhaust) no problem and 250hp(fmic,exhaust,tune) for 800 bucks

tranny, also s13/14 because the 6 speed does have some problems but there are a few that havnt had any problems with them, but for a track vehicle you wont need a 6 speed, you'll still be in 4th at best

and its a neat idea i guess, something different and it would make people go wtf. keep us updated if you do

wiring...you might have to figure that out yourself or use all of the 240 wiring yet...i mean when u get the front clip, ur gunna have to use the cluster and all of that and just not plug in the radio...ac...heater...bla bla shit, and wire everything up sepperate so it turns on because noone is going to have a kit for that, its not to hard, just time consuming
